In Marrero and Metairie, epidural steroid injections are a valuable, minimally invasive option when sciatica or herniated discs cause nerve pain that fails to respond to conservative treatments.

Residents of Marrero and Metairie frequently face back pain from conditions like lumbar bulging/herniated discs or sciatica—nerve–root irritation that causes sharp pain, tingling, or numbness down the leg. While conservative care (physical therapy, NSAIDs, exercise) is often first line, persiste...

Spinal Cord Stimulation Therapy is a Proven Approach for Managing Chronic Pain. Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) therapy has established itself as a safe and effective treatment option for various chronic pain conditions. By implanting a small medical device similar in size to a pacemaker just under the skin, SCS therapy is able to modulate pain signals traveling to the brain from sites of injury, accident, or trauma. Through the delivery of mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord, SCS has been shown to meaningfully reduce chronic pain experienced by patients. If you have been battling chronic pain for an extended duration and are seeking an evidence-based treatment alternative, contact us today to determine if SCS therapy may provide relief. We can evaluate whether this minimally invasive pain management approach could help you regain an improved quality of life. https://southernpainclinic.com/services/implanted-nerve-stimulators/

Facet joints serve as the connecting links between the bones in the posterior or back part of the spine. These joints facilitate movements such as twisting, flexing, and extension. Inflammation in these joints can give rise to pain. A facet joint injection entails the direct administration of medication into or adjacent to the facet joint. The medication typically consists of a long-acting steroid and an anesthetic agent for numbness. When delivered directly into the affected area, this combination of medication works to reduce joint inflammation and swelling. Generally, this procedure is recommended for individuals experiencing neck, arm, low back, or leg pain caused by facet joint inflammation, who have not responded to other conservative treatments. You may be a candidate if you have sciatica, spinal stenosis, arthritis, postoperative pain, or spondylolysis. At Southern Pain and Neurological, we are proud to offer this surgery-free alternative to patients. Contact us today to learn more about this procedure and find out if you are a suitable candidate. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) refers to the gradual deterioration of the spinal discs, which are flexible cushions located between the bones in the spinal column. These discs serve as shock absorbers and enable smooth movement, bending, and twisting. Pain caused by DDD may be intermittent, lasting for weeks or months, and it can lead to numbness or tingling in the arms or legs. Additionally, the pain may radiate down the lower back and buttocks, and it may worsen when sitting, bending, or lifting. The underlying cause of degenerative disc disease is the natural aging process, which results in the gradual deterioration of spinal discs. Minor injuries can cause small cracks in the spinal discs, often near nerves. Even if these tears are minor, they can still cause pain. The pain associated with degenerative disc disease can manifest in the neck or lower back and may extend to the arms, hands, buttocks, and legs. Contact Southern Pain and Neurological today to find out more about DDD and the treatments available. https://southernpainclinic.com/

This narrowing can be caused by age-related changes, such as the thickening of ligaments or the formation of bone spurs, or by other cond...

How does the mild® Procedure work? This minimally invasive lumbar decompression is an outpatient procedure that relieves pressure on the spine. This procedure is used to treat chronic lower back pain caused by lumbar spinal stenosis, a condition in which the spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal nerves. The procedure involves inserting a small device through a tiny incision in the back and using it to remove small pieces of bone and tissue that are causing the compression. This helps to relieve pressure on the nerves to restore proper function, reduce pain, and improve mobility. Find out if you're a candidate by contacting Southern Pain and Neurological today. https://southernpainclinic.com/mild/
