After a full day of school, many children are holding in more than we realize—expectations, sensory input, emotions, and constant focus. When they finally get home, their bodies often release all of that at once.

Activities like pushing, pulling, and animal walks aren’t just “play”—they give the nervous system the input it needs to slow down, organize, and feel safe again. This type of movement helps children regulate their bodies so they can transition into the evening with less overwhelm and more control.

Every child responds differently, and figuring out what works can feel overwhelming for parents.

TLC offers pediatric occupational, speech and physical therapy services to children of the Greater New Orleans Area. Therapy is provided on an individual basis or group-based programs such as handwriting clinics, social skills groups, speech and language groups, fun with foods groups for picky eaters, music therapy groups, social skills, and sensory-based groups.
