These photos were taken 3.5 years apart β€” with no intervention during this time.

Straight baby teeth can be misleading.

When there’s little or no space between baby teeth, it’s an early warning sign that the jaws aren’t developing properly.

The palate is the floor of the nose and the housing for the tongue. If the tongue can’t rest and function properly lightly suctioned to the palate, this affects jaw growth, airway development, breathing, and sleep.

Early intervention can help avoid more complex orthodontic problems like this one, and support better airway health.

UPDATE: Due to continued unsafe road conditions and road closures, we will remain closed on Thursday, 1/23. We will reopen on Friday, 1/24 at 8am.

Now, here's a post we never thought we'd write! ❄️

Due to the road closures and snow that we are expecting in our area, for the safety of our patients and staff, we will be closed on Tuesday, 1/21, and Wednesday, 1/22.

We plan to reopen Thursday, 1/23, at 8am as conditions allow.

For our friends who live in other parts of the world - this is a big deal for us in south Louisiana! Without the infrastructure to handle the snow/ice, we won't be able to travel easily.

We hope all of our locals stay safe and warm! We can't wait to see your snowy pictures!! β˜ƒοΈ

Look at this patient's progress!! 😍

This patient has been using aligners to functionally and cranially develop, and it's incredible to see!

She has gotten noticeable cranial improvements to her profile, more tongue space, anterior development, and better tooth alignment.

We are all so impressed and can't wait to see her finished case!

If you'd like to see if you're a good candidate for this therapy, give us a call at 504-832-2222!

There are so many things we consider when treating a sleep breathing disorder!

Sure, big airways are great, but that doesn't mean they don't collapse!

Airway collapsability is affected by each patient's
neurology, muscle tone, and nasal airflow!

We see large airways that collapse often and small airways that are perfectly stable! A CBCT alone doesn't give us that information!

If you or a loved one has been struggling with a sleep breathing disorder, we can help! Call us to set up a consultation at 504-832-2222!

We are passionate about early intervention in our office!

Here's the important thing - expansion and development needs to occur in multiple dimensions!

If your child has been struggling with:

πŸ‘‰ mouth breathing
πŸ‘‰ waking at night
πŸ‘‰ hyperactivity symptoms
πŸ‘‰ snoring
πŸ‘‰ enlarged tonsils and adenoids
πŸ‘‰ bedwetting

then it's time for an evaluation to see if early intervention is an option!

Dr. Levy teaches how to treat these issues in our hands-on pediatric course with Dr. Steve Olmos! Check out www.tmjtherapycentre.com for course info!!

Give us a call at 504-832-2222 to schedule a consult!

If a child is a mouth breather, their tongue won't rest in the roof of the mouth, which often results in an underdeveloped upper jaw and restricted forward growth of the lower jaw. This usually causes crowding of the teeth. Find out more: myobrace.com/what-causes-crooked-teeth/the-health-problem
