We had a wonderful Messy Minis (6-18 months) class this week! We had littles at all different developmental stages exploring the materials and observing one another other in the studio.

Water and sponges were both exciting and surprising as each child discovered what happens when you squeeze the sponge! A bin of small balls sparked joy and laughter as well as many games of peek-a-boo with the scarves! The crinkly paper and musical instruments were also a big hit.

Caretakers enjoyed special time playing alongside their little ones and conversing with one another.

It was a lovely morning and a pleasure getting to know everyone! I’m looking forward to next week and hoping we’ll have even more friends to join in the fun!

Dinosaur week in our Sensory Fun classes (18 months - 5 years) was a roaring good time! We painted and washed dinosaurs, used play dough and loose parts to make party outfits and birthday cake for dinosaurs, and engaged in imaginative play in our sensory bins.

Our K-2nd grade Wednesday Afternoon Art Explorers got in the fall spirit by making these gorgeous colorful leaf mobiles. They started by carefully painting leaves with small brushes and q-tips. We love all the details and color mixing they did! Next, they wrapped sticks in yarn to add vibrant colors. Once their painted leaves were dry, we hung them from the sticks to create graceful mobiles.

Our K–2 Afternoon Art Explorers designed their own robot masterpieces using foam stickers — then turned them into amazing prints! From gears to gadgets, each creation was full of personality and imagination.

🤖 Our Sensory Fun classes had a blast with this week’s robot-themed class! From painting a giant box robot, to building their own bots with black play dough, gears, nuts, bolts, and more — and even digging through a black bean sensory bin for parts — creativity was in full gear!

This week, we created self-portraits with different mediums. Before class, we traced around a few children’s bodies. Children in our classes then used paint sticks to add details to the outlines. They also used wood slices and cardboard circles as bases to create self-portraits with loose parts. Looking in a mirror for inspiration was a big hit! Children also created silly faces with play dough and Mr. Potato Head pieces. A fun week all around!

Our Fall-themed weekend classes were full of apple cinnamon-scented stations and the studio smelled delicious! We had sensory bins full of real apple cinnamon tea, apple cinnamon scented play dough for baking up yummy treats in our cardboard oven, and a huge collaborative tree mural.

The next weekend classes will be Halloween-themed and held on Saturday, October 25th. There’s only one space left in each class (9:30 and 10:45), so grab them before they’re gone!

Afternoon Art Explorers (K-2nd grade) finished a two-part project this week. Last week, they used black glue to create organic, flowing lines all over their papers. This week, they used colorful palettes of watercolors to fill in all the negative space. Some friends mixed their own colors in the palettes. They all loved seeing how bright and vibrant the colors were!
