Don’t forget: compostables are not a solution, and in fact are worse than other single use alternatives. And more expensive for restaurants to purchase, in a business that already has razor thin margins.

Single-use plastic items are a substantial contributor to litter across Canada, but compostable alternatives can follow a similar path. Marketplace set out to determine how items would break down if they ended up in our environment.

It was a complete pleasure to host the SPC Advance Reuse Tour in Boston yesterday! Attendees explored the full spectrum of reusable packaging — from community-based reuse with Recirclable and restaurant partners like Johnny's Luncheonette to large-scale systems with ReDish. A great day showcasing reuse in action and sparking thoughtful conversations on the future of reusable packaging.
