Methuen Village had the distinct privilege of welcoming Kiera, a volunteer from China, through the Cultural Homestead International (CHI) program. During her month-long stay with a local host family, Kiera devoted her time and energy to engaging with our community, enhancing the daily experiences of both our residents and staff.
While her original purpose was to learn more about American culture, Kiera generously shared the richness of her own heritage, creating a genuine cultural exchange within our community. She baked delightful cookies, engaged with summer camp activities, and brought joy through games with our Compass memory care residents. Just as importantly, she also extended her support to the traditional side of assisted living, where her kindness, attentiveness, and eagerness to help enriched the day-to-day lives of many residents.
Both our memory care team and assisted living staff deeply valued Kiera’s presence. Together, they fostered moments of connection, learning, and joy that exemplify the mission and spirit of Methuen Village.
Though saying “see you soon” was not easy, we look forward to staying connected with Kiera and continuing our partnership with Cultural Homestead International. We remain dedicated to welcoming future international volunteers and to creating opportunities that celebrate culture, compassion, and community across all levels of care at Methuen Village.
