You're With Us

You're With Us! creates inclusion opportunities with able-bodied college groups for young adults(18+) with disabilities Sometimes we know why, often we don’t.

Children are born with disabilities that are outside of their control. What we are left with is the fact that something happened to a child, which profoundly affects them. It has made them somewhat different and has excluded them from normal social opportunities. These are the people we need to help the most. You’re With Us! allows these young adults to have special moments that few of them get to experience. These young adults have the potential to influence those around them -- a special ability to open people up to compassion, empathy and leadership. People are healthiest when they feel safe, supported, and connected to others in their neighborhoods and communities. helps fill the gap for young adults with disabilities and their families. Not only can the gap be filled by a sense of belonging, it can also be transformed into a trampoline, allowing the individual to bound into adulthood with the essential social skills and leadership tools to live a full life.

Last week, we kicked off our Boston Mid-Day Program with a fun visit to MassArt Art Museum — and this week, we kept the momentum going with another great session!

This Monday in Art Group, participants let their creativity shine by designing and drawing on t-shirts. Over in Games Group, we broke the ice with fun theatre games that helped us get to know each other a little better.

We wrapped up the day by having lunch together at Northeastern's Curry Student Center — the perfect end to a fantastic afternoon.

Our participants and staff enjoyed a great night of building, challenges, and rides at the LEGO Discovery Center for our August event! A big thank you to the LDC staff who opened up the space for a peaceful time of Lego fun, and to our participants who made this such an awesome night. We’ll see you at the next event!

My mom passed away on July 1st. There would be no You're With Us! without Madeline Plansky. We used to sit at her kitchen table for hours when we visited with Max and talked about Max's first year with Northeastern University Men's Basketball. I would share all the great things that were happening for Max and how the whole University seemed to want to help him. I mentioned to her I think we could make this possible for many people. She said "Why don't you?". I said "I have no idea how it works". She said "Well, you have to do it now because you have seen what it has done for Max, you have to share that with others. You will figure it out." Mom supported YWU in every possible way and helped get it off the ground, then enjoying all the updates. She was very happy that we are supporting more than 150 individuals now with services they desire. This life is a some day deal for all of us. Mom's day came sooner than expected and with harsher weather. But oh what a legacy she left behind. Proud to follow in her footsteps.

🎉🐰 Our Easter celebration for You're With Us! at Camp Paul was a heartwarming success! 🌷

Our participants from You're With Us enjoyed a day filled with fun activities, laughter, and unforgettable memories. It was a special opportunity to bring our community together and celebrate the joy of the season.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special! We are continually inspired by the gifts, enthusiasm and positivity our participants bring to their communities. We are lucky to be a part of their lives!

We are so grateful for our partnership with Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism and their unwavering commitment to helping those with autism live life to the fullest. Through Jersey Mike's Subs Day of Giving campaign, the sandwich chain donates 100% of its sales to local non-profit organizations supporting people living with autism. Our participants had a great day eating some of the best sandwiches around!
