Recent studies found that T cells found in COVID-19 patients ‘bode well’ for long-term immunity.

T cells are a type of white blood cell that the immune system uses to help fight viruses.

Scientists found that in people who had recovered from COVID-19, the T cells react to SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of the disease.

This study reveals new information that will help researchers better understand immunity.

In a breakthrough study about immunity, South Korean scientists found that people cannot be infected twice with the virus. This result means that once a person has had Covid-19 (even if they are asymptomatic), they will be immune in the future.

Tests like Covid-Rapid are critical in understanding who has the antibodies that indicate this immunity. Once a person has been exposed to the virus, antibodies develop, and Covid-Rapid detects the presence of these antibodies in just ten minutes.

Antibody testing is vital for understanding who in a community has previously been exposed to COVID-19, which can help scientists understand potential immunity and the actual infection rate. But not all antibody tests are created equally, and some are not as accurate as others.

Covid-Rapid wants to keep you informed. We are committed to transparency and accurate results.

“Every scrap of data I have is public,” API's medical director Dr. Vincent DeGennaro said. “We put our data on the website — good, bad, ugly, it’s there.” According to another study, published by researchers at UCSF, UC Berkeley, and Harvard, Covid-Rapid was found to have 100% specificity, meaning zero false positives.

New estimates by researchers at Harvard University suggest that the U.S. cannot safely reopen without conducting 20 million tests per day for COVID-19. The U.S. has currently conducted around 4 million tests total. The report says that this enormous increase in testing is the only solution that both contains the virus and allows the economy to ramp back up.

"The fundamental element of keeping our economy open is making sure you’re identifying as many infected people as possible and isolating them," Ashish Jha, the director of the Harvard Global Health Institute said.

Affordable, accurate, and rapid antibody tests like Covid-Rapid's 15-minute point-of-care test will be instrumental in identifying those who have been exposed to the virus and who may have relative immunity. This information is crucial for doctors and scientists to better understand the actual rate of infection and spread of the virus.

There are a wide variety of serology tests, but API's track record of having developed more than 200 rapid tests distributed around the world over the past 10 years demonstrates its reliability and repeated success with testing.

Tens of thousands of API’s Covid-Rapid tests have been used in Switzerland and Belgium, where studies have provided in vivo data. Serology tests screen for antibodies, which form several days after infection of COVID-19, so the test is best used to screen for previous infection, rather than current infection.

No test is perfect, but when used properly, Covid-Rapid can be used as an immunity test that produces a very low rate of false positives.

Covid-Rapid has demonstrated 95% to 100% accuracy in identifying infected patients after Day 12. Antibody testing is critical for understanding who might have developed immunity, and therefore, who might be able to return to work.

A recent study at a homeless shelter in Boston found that close to 40% of the people tested for COVID-19 were positive. Shockingly, NONE showed symptoms.

This study indicates how many people infected with the virus might not know it. Even if a person is asymptomatic, they can still spread the virus.

Antibody testing, like our 15-minute Covid-Rapid test, is absolutely necessary for understanding who might have been infected without knowing it. Many people who seek swab testing already show symptoms, meaning huge numbers of people with COVID-19 are not getting tested and are still spreading the virus.

Our rapid-test requires only a few drops of blood and no outside equipment or lab testing, and results come in just 15 minutes. Learn more about it on our website.

API plans to donate 10,000 tests to the city of Miami. "This is not about selling tests for us," Dr. DeGennaro, an epidemiologist, exclaims. "This is about helping people get back to work and repair a damaged economy and minimize the impact the disease can have in our community here in Miami."

API's COVID-RAPID test is especially useful as a screening test to see who has immunity within a certain community, serving as the most productive means to track the spread of the virus.

API's Covid-Rapid test kits as of today are registered by the FDA to sell to medical facilities to help accelerate widespread testing throughout the U.S. Serology tests like ours help test for immunity, unlike current swab testing.

Many states face test shortages, which mean doctors and officials are often making treatment plans and policy without enough information. With the availability of quick, easy, and affordable tests like ours that don't require any outside lab equipment, more people can access testing to see if they are currently infected with COVID-19 or had been in the past.

Knowledge previous infection is critical for understanding potential immunity, which will allow people to safely go back to work.

As the U.S. death toll approaches 10,000, it is hard to maintain optimism. However, the nation's top Coronavirus expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, is very confident that survivors will develop immunity, whether or not they were symptomatic to begin with. That is why serology tests such as COVID-RAPID will be absolutely essential in restarting the economy and restoring normalcy. Without these tests, the nation would be substantially more susceptible to reinfection and a prolonged social stagnation. https://covid-rapid.com/

How will API's new COVID-RAPID 15-minute test for COVID-19 help put America back to work?

Unlike the swab (PCR) tests, our test looks for both current AND past infections. If both antibodies are positive, you have a current infection. If only the long-lasting antibody (IgG) is positive, then we know that your infection is likely more than three weeks old. But that means that you likely have immunity to getting infected again, at least for the next 12 months, and you are no longer contagious. This will help public health officials limit the spread while allowing people who have demonstrated relative immunity to jump start their lives again!

API's new COVID-RAPID test for COVID-19 is an antibody test, which is different from the PCR tests you've been seeing in the news. Covid-Rapid works by looking for antibodies in your blood to the virus. So no uncomfortable deep nose or throat swab (PCR test) and more importantly, you know for sure that the sample collected is properly done, which isn’t always true with the swabs. By placing the blood on the strip with the reagent, capillary action takes the water part of your blood, which contains the antibodies, down the strip to interact with pieces of the virus embedded in the paper. If you have antibodies to the virus in your blood, they will react with these pieces of the virus, changing the color of the paper. This will show a line indicating a positive result, just like a pregnancy test.

API manufactures over 200 types of rapid diagnostic tests internationally, all of which can be done in an outpatient setting without a lab or specially trained staff. All its rapid tests cost between $8 and $29, offering patients, doctors, clinicians and the healthcare community significant value for their money.

API was founded by Joseph Trentin to contract manufacture low-cost USP or BP standard generic pharmaceuticals. In addition, API manufactures all-natural vegetarian, non-GMO, gluten free, nutrients for the USA and Latin America commercial markets. Abacus Pharma International, based in Alexandria, Virginia, helps design rapid tests outside the USA for a range of viruses and diseases, such as herpes, HIV, Hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, rotovirus and the flu, among others. API's founder has worked for more than 20 years in the pharmaceutical business, including for GlaxoSmithKline. API’s medical director is Dr. Vincent DeGennaro, an internist and public health specialist who has worked in ten countries around the world implementing public health programs focused on disaster relief and chronic disease management.
