Natural DepigmentationđŤđđźâď¸
This patient sought treatment for her stretch marks prior to seeing me and unfortunately experienced injury from laser treatments during her procedures. While lasers can be safe for her skin type, itâs critical to consult someone experienced and trained to work with higher Fitzpatrick skin types. Asian skin contains more melanin, which absorbs laser heat. If the laser is too strong, it can cause thermal damage (burns), triggering the skin to overproduce pigment during the healing process, as seen in this case. This results in dark patches of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) rather than an actual physical burn mark.
I had a limited time to reverse the damage, so I felt it was a race against time. In this case, I had only six months, and while I could have achieved even more progress, unfortunately, that was all the time she had in her schedule. Of course, I offered to do what I could in the time available, and each month, her scars improved beautifully. However, to achieve this progress, it was crucial for her to be a team player in her aftercare by using products, specifically our Scar Light Kit, in between visits to continue to help depigment the damage from the lasers.
If a patient isnât actively caring for their scars while healing by using key ingredients that specifically helps to reprogram skin, they risk stagnation in their recovery and less than desirable outcomes. Thatâs why I believe itâs so important for my patients to engage in their own healing process by using our Scar Food products specifically designed for rapid and healthy healing. When my patients take an active role, it creates a win-win situation for both of us!
