As Skin Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, let this story serve as an important reminder. ☀️
Years of sun exposure led this patient to notice a spot that he assumed would heal on its own. Like many people, he delayed getting it checked, hoping it was nothing.
It turned out to be basal cell carcinoma.
After 5 stages of Mohs surgery, we were able to successfully clear the skin cancer while preserving as much healthy skin as possible. Cases like this are exactly why early detection matters. The longer skin cancer is left untreated, the larger and more complex the surgery can become.
Ending Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to stay proactive about their skin health. Annual skin checks can truly make a difference.
If you notice a spot that’s changing, bleeding, scabbing, or simply not healing, don’t wait to get it evaluated. Protect your skin today and protect your future tomorrow.
