When going through hardships, you should reach to and utilize your natural resources FIRST for help and support. Those natural resources can be family, friends, community, coping mechanisms, amongst so many others.

If your natural resources are not giving you the help and support you need, that’s when therapy becomes an option. You want to make sure those resources are not being useful to your situation in order to learn new things in therapy. Going to therapy to learn what you already naturally have access to and utilize has no real benefit for you.

However, you should not allow time to pass and allow your situation to worsen or become a crisis and seek therapy then. Therapy should not be your last option. Get the help that you need and feel better about yourself.
