Camp Erin South Florida

Camp Erin South Florida Catholic Hospice also cares for the whole person with special programs like Pet Peace of Mind and spiritual support for those of all faith traditions.

At Camp Erin, grieving children learn that they are not alone, that their feelings are normal. They have a safe environment to express themselves with other children going through a similar experience. Grief professionals and trained volunteers lead age appropriate groups through clinical grief activities such as remembrance ceremonies, sharing circles, art therapy, music, creative writing, drama and other physical activities.

This past Saturday, July 19, 2025, our Camp Erin team hosted a Camp Erin South Florida Reunion! The reunion provided an opportunity for past and present camper families and volunteers to reconnect. Attendees spent time catching up, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other’s company. The team provided lawn games and activities for kids, while attendees also enjoyed a variety of food options. Humane Society of Broward also came to provide a relaxing pet therapy session that was a hit with both adults and children!

"It was a nice break from the usual routine and a great opportunity to just be present with the community," said Edmound Davis, Bereavement Camp Coordinator.

Thank you to Edmound and all those who were involved in our reunion for providing this opportunity and space for our Camp Erin families and volunteers to continue building a community of support and connection!

For the third year in a row, we provided a Family Bereavement Camp to our South Florida community, and we're thankful to have supported seven families this past weekend at a park in Broward! We had a total of 31 campers with an almost even split between adult and youth campers.

During the camp, camper families received support through several activities that helped the families process and express their grief as well as strengthen familial relationships. The camp also provided the opportunity for breakout sessions where the adults and youth campers could receive age-appropriate support with their peers.

The adults attended a Caregiver Workshop sponsored by Cigna in partnership with Eluna. The workshop provided psychoeducation on grief and loss, a guided meditation through music therapy, and a meaningful gratitude activity. While the adults were in the Caregiver Workshop, youth campers worked on expressing their grief in creative ways, such as through expressive art and music.

The Camp Erin South Florida team, led by Edmound Davis (Bereavement Camp Coordinator), would like to share a BIG thank you to our community volunteers and Catholic Hospice staff who supported this family camp!

A special "thank you" also goes to our community partners who support this camp!
*MCS Music Therapy for providing Music Therapy
* Humane Society of Broward who continues to partner with us in providing Pet Therapy
* the local Miami New York Life who helped to pack our camper bags before camp

Last but not least, we thank and Cigna for the opportunity to continue supporting grieving families in our South Florida community! To learn more about Eluna, visit their website at www.elunanetwork.org.

Grief is a journey, and for youth, it can feel especially overwhelming — filled with reminders of a future they imagined sharing with someone they’ve lost.

At Camp Erin South Florida, we provide a compassionate space where young people can remember and celebrate the love, joy, and connection their loved ones brought into their lives. Even in the darkest moments, there is hope. No one should have to face grief alone, and support is available.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. During this month, let us take a moment to remember the interconnectivity of our mental health to our overall health. As they say, "health is wealth," and when it comes to our mental health, we hope that you will take a moment amid your busy schedules to remember to take care of YOU, including your mental health - take a break, take deep breaths, take a couple more sips of water, take a break from media, take a couple laps outside, or simply step outside to take a moment to take in some fresh air... Whatever you choose, we hope you take a moment to take care of YOU!

We also want to remind you that you are not alone. If you or you know anyone who is facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, the 988 Lifeline is available.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline has caring counselors who are available 24/7/365 and you can call, text, or chat with one of them by contacting 988. They also support those who are deaf or hard of hearing via videophone. If you know of a veteran who is experiencing crisis, they also have a Veteran Crisis Line available. Send a text message to 838255. There is support for ALL!
