A Pediatric Dentist fills cavities by first numbing the area with a local anesthetic, then removing the decayed portion of the tooth using a drill or laser. After cleaning and shaping the area, the dentist will apply a filling material, such as composite resin or amalgam, and harden it with a special light. Finally, the filling is polished to ensure a smooth surface and proper bite alignment.
