Whether you’re trying to break your phone addiction, decrease social media usage, or just want to decrease the time suck of your phone use, buying a devoted alarm clock could be the answer. Multiple studies have found that keeping cell phones out of the bedroom by using an analog alarm clock to wake up resulted in significantly decreased phone use, which translated to better sleep, improved relationships, increased happiness, and improved focus.

When we become emotionally dysregulated, or when we feel we do not have control of our emotions, we may be quick to react in ways that are harmful to ourselves or others around us and lead us away from our long-term goals and values. If we can regulate our emotions, we can increase our ability to problem solve and respond in ways that are helpful to us. Here is a quick and easy breathing technique, called Tactical Breathing, that can help regulate our stress response. This technique can be done anytime, anywhere, without anyone knowing you are doing it. Feel free to adjust the pace as needed to meet your comfort level.

Steps:
1. Breath in through your nose for a count of 4
2. Breath out through your nose for a count of 4
3. Repeat 4 to 6 times

Codependency is often discussed in terms of relationships impacted by addiction and substance abuse. However, codependency can occur in any type of relationship. may also be referred to as emotional enmeshment. A person struggling with codependency will often base their emotional state off of another’s emotional state. A codependent person often does not feel “ok” unless the person they are enmeshed with is “ok”. In a codependent parent-child relationship, the parent may find themselves trying to control or change their child’s emotions, thoughts, or behaviors, because of how the parent’s feelings are impacted. The problem with this is it teaches our children that it is not ok to feel those feelings. Children may then begin to suppress or hide their emotions and not learn how to tolerate and cope with uncomfortable feelings. It can also impact a child’s identify formation and leave them looking for cues from others and their environment on who they are and how they experience life.

Do you ever feel like your mind is constantly juggling a thousand things at once? That’s the mental load of motherhood. It is the invisible and often unrecognized work of keeping track of all the details that keep your family running smoothly. From remembering appointment and school events to planning meals and keeping track of everyone’s needs, your mental checklist is never-ending.

Remember:
▪ It is okay to ask for help
▪ Self-care is essential
▪ Your needs are just as important as everyone else’s
