Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a highly effective treatment for PTSD and other trauma-related conditions. It focuses on helping individuals understand and change the way they think about their trauma. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts, CPT aims to reduce emotional distress associated with traumatic memories. If you or someone you know is struggling with trauma, CPT could be a path to healing.

Children need boundaries to feel safe, secure, and learn what behaviors are expected of them as well as what is off limits. Establishing and natural consequences should be age-appropriate and avoid shaming or punishing. teach children that certain behaviors and choices will lead to an outcome that they do not prefer. For example, not studying for an upcoming test may lead them to experience the natural consequence of getting a poor grade or having to redo the assignment. Natural consequences are directly connected to the behavior at hand versus being unrelated (i.e.: getting grounded for not studying). Punishing, which focuses more on controlling a child and has been shown to be ineffective in long term behavioral change, Natural consequences focus on teaching and guiding. This sets our children up to be much more likely to stop and think about their actions and consider possible consequences from their actions.

Pause, breathe, and be kind to yourself. A self-compassion break can make a world of difference in how you handle stress and challenges. Remember, treating yourself with the same kindness you’d offer a friend can promote healing and resilience.

Feeling stuck in an unhelpful emotion? Try Opposite Action! By acting opposite to your emotion-driven urges, you can shift your mood and behavior. For example, if you're feeling anxious, approach rather than avoid. If you're angry, try kindness.
Give it a try and notice the change!
