Do you find your child thrives in some environments more than others?

Sensory integration is the way the brain organizes and responds to information from the senses. When this process is more challenging for a child, everyday experiences like noise, movement, or certain textures can feel overwhelming. The American Academy of Pediatrics highlights how understanding sensory processing is an important part of supporting healthy development.

Through our evaluations, we help families understand their child’s unique sensory needs through comprehensive, child-friendly evaluations that guide practical supports at home, at school, and in everyday life.

Message us to learn how we can support your child’s growth. We proudly serve families throughout Florida with care and expertise.

Smooth mornings start the night before. 😴✨ Do you know how much sleep your child should be getting? The answer actually depends on your child’s age.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends minimum and maximum hours for each age group during a 24-hour period for optimal health:
• Ages 4-12 months: 12-16 hours (including naps)
• Ages 1-2 years: 11-14 hours (including naps)
• Ages 3-5 years: 10-13 hours (including naps)
• Age 6-12 years: 9-12 hours
• Age 13-18 years: 8-10 hours

Quick wins: steady bedtime, dim lights 60 minutes before bed, and leave screens outside the bedroom. Consistency makes mornings easier and moods brighter. 🌙🛏️

Happy Black Friday from ABC Testing Services 🖤✨
Kick off the holiday season with these kid-friendly tips:

🧘 Slow the pace.
Big holiday changes can feel overwhelming. Build in pauses, simple routines, and downtime throughout the day.

💬 Help kids name their feelings.
Excited, tired, overstimulated—labeling emotions helps children understand and regulate what they’re experiencing.

🎄 Set realistic expectations.
Crowds, noise, and later nights are common this time of year. Prepare kids ahead of time and offer choices to help reduce stress.

😴 Prioritize rest.
Make sure your child gets enough quiet time and age-appropriate sleep to support regulation and behavior.

If you notice your child struggling, send us a message. We’re here to support your family. 💛

💧 Drink water helps their body wake up gently.
🤸 Move a little stretch, rock, jump, or pace to release energy.
🧺 Prep the night before (clothes, breakfast, and school items).
📵 No screens first thing supports focus and smoother transitions.
⏰ Add padding to the morning. Wake up early enough so no one feels rushed.

If mornings still feel hard or overwhelming, send us a message. We can evaluate your child to see if there are any developmental or learning delays that may be affecting their routine, and help set them up for success. Send us a direct message to get started.

An Individualized Education Plan, also called IEP, is a customized document created to meet your child’s unique learning needs. It’s not a contract, but it does guarantee the supports and services your child is entitled to receive. A strong IEP ensures your child gets the tools, accommodations, and guidance they need to succeed in school.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects about 1 in 31 children, according to a recent CDC Study. ASD is a developmental disability that can cause social, communication, and behavioral challenges. 🧩 A diagnosis of ASD now includes several conditions that used to be diagnosed separately, such as autistic disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), and Asperger syndrome. 💙 Behavioral testing is essential for understanding a child’s behavioral difficulties, the function of these behaviors, and their impact on academic performance, social settings, and home life. We would love to answer your questions about ASD and any other academic, behavioral, or cognitive concerns you may have. 🫶 Send us a message to explore your next steps.

Curious about how your child is developing and reaching age-appropriate milestones? Developmental Testing provides parents with valuable insights into their child’s strengths and areas for improvement, while also helping identify potential developmental delays.

In Miami-Dade, children under the age of 3 may be eligible for the Early Steps Program. Children 3 and over may be eligible for early intervention services via their local school district.

Eligibility is usually for children who are experiencing Developmental Delays (DD) in one or more of the following areas:
🧥 Adaptive/Self-Help Skills
👥 Personal Socialization Skills

🧠 Motor Skills
🏫 Pre-Academic Skills

Here’s something sweet to know this Halloween. If you see a little one carrying a blue trick-or-treat bucket, it’s a gentle way to show that they may have autism or other special needs.

So if a child doesn’t say “trick or treat,” make eye contact, or respond right away, no worries, just smile, hand them some candy, and wish them a Happy Halloween! 👻🍬

A little patience and kindness go a long way. Let’s make this spooky season fun and inclusive for everyone. 💙

Help your child reach their full potential ✨ During the Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation, a Licensed Psychologist will evaluate various aspects of your child’s development and functioning, including communication, social abilities, behavioral strengths, and developmental background. The assessment examines key areas such as physical, adaptive, social-emotional, cognitive, and communication skills. A parent/caregiver interview is also conducted to gather information on developmental history and any behavioral concerns. 📝 This detailed evaluation offers a complete understanding of your child’s needs, helping to create focused interventions and support strategies that promote their overall growth and success.

Our team of psychologists are available to help online or in-person in South Miami.
