I could not find a single Passover kids song that I wanted to use. They were either too wordy or conceptual for the age, or not very engaging… so I came up with this simple song for Passover about the Afikomen!

I led up to it by explaining and acting out how we break the middle matzah, it disappears, and then it’s the kids’ job to find it! The rest of the Seder (and dessert) can’t begin until we find it, PLUS we might get a prize!

What is music therapy?

Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical practice where music is used intentionally to support therapeutic goals.

A board-certified music therapist uses music to help individuals improve areas such as:

• communication
• emotional regulation
• social skills
• cognitive functioning
• motor development
• self-expression

Music therapy is not just listening to music or singing songs — it involves structured interventions like improvisation, songwriting, rhythmic activities, movement, and instrument playing, all tailored to the needs of the individual.

Music therapy can support people across the lifespan, including:

• infants and young children
• neurodivergent individuals
• adolescents
• adults
• older adults

Because music uniquely engages the brain, body, and emotions at the same time, it can be a powerful tool for connection, development, and healing.

Follow along to learn more about how music therapy works, the science behind it, and practical ways music can support development and well-being.

🌸 Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to sing with your kids! 🎶

Singing together isn’t just fun. It supports:
• bonding and connection
• early language development
• emotional regulation
• motor skills and coordination

💡 Tip: Try singing these songs outside to enjoy fresh air, movement, and nature sounds while supporting development!

Your baby doesn’t care if you’re a “good singer.” 🎶

You don’t have to sing perfectly.
You don’t have to be on pitch.
You don’t even have to feel confident.

What babies care about most is hearing the voice of the person they love.

When you sing to your baby, they’re not judging your voice, they’re experiencing:

• connection
• comfort
• emotional bonding
• language exposure
• musical interaction

Your voice is one of the most powerful tools for connection and development in early childhood.

So even if singing feels a little awkward at first, I always encourage parents to sing along in class and at home. Your baby doesn’t need a perfect singer, they just need you.

✨ Try it today: sing a simple song like You Are My Sunshine and notice how your baby responds.

Being a parent of a baby can feel like you have to apologize for everything.

A baby cries.
A baby needs to eat.
A baby spits up.
A baby needs a diaper change.

But in my baby music classes, you never have to apologize for your baby being a baby.

Babies cry.
Babies sleep.
Babies breastfeed.
Babies move.
Babies explore.

That’s not a disruption, that’s development.

My classes are designed to be a supportive, judgment-free space where parents can relax, connect, and experience the power of music with their babies.

If your baby needs to nurse, take a break, cuddle, or sleep during class, that is completely okay. You can stay in the room or step out — whatever feels right for you.

Because this class isn’t about perfect behavior.

It’s about connection, bonding, and early childhood development through music.

And babies are always welcome exactly as they are.

Hi! I’m Rebecca- a board-certified music therapist and educator passionate about helping people use music to support emotional, cognitive, and social development.

Music therapy is more than just making music. It’s an evidence-based therapeutic practice where music is used intentionally to support goals like communication, emotional regulation, attention, social connection, and overall well-being.

Through my work, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, and mental health programs.

On this page you can expect:

• Education about what music therapy is and how it works
• Practical ways to use music to support development and emotional regulation
• Insights from my work as a music therapist and educator
• Ideas and activities for parents, educators, and caregivers
• Information about classes, programs, and resources

My goal is to help people better understand the power of music as a therapeutic tool and how it can support growth, connection, and well-being.

If you’re curious about music therapy or interested in learning how music can support development, you’re in the right place.
