Minimally Invasive Techniques
are always still great options!!

As we enter the realm of overfilled and unnatural aesthetics, let’s not for let the beauty of properly placed filler and botulinum toxin. 😍

It is soooooooo important to trust an expert (uh hem, facial surgeon) with these tools so that lovely, natural results are achieved without looking “overdone” or “weird”.

1. Filler in the upper eyelid in someone with volume loss to improve symmetry

Today, something beautiful happened.

My sweet Polish patient—who’s been through such a complex journey with thyroid eye disease—surprised me with a handmade blanket for Tink. What she didn’t know? Little Tinky had surgery TODAY to correct a hip dislocation.

Thanks to the incredible vets in Miami—Drs. Owens, Johnson, and Andrade—Tink is doing well and already on the road to recovery.

In a world that often feels overwhelming, today reminded me:
People are kind.

People have so much love to give.❤️

Orbital Decompression for Thyroid Eye Disease 👀

(or TED) is a complicated autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation in the tissues behind and around the eyes. While modern medicine has made a profound breakthrough in the way we treat inflammation, surgery will always play a very important role in the management of TED.

While this young patient had improvement in inflammation and proptosis after a course of teprotumumab, his eye were still bulging abnormally. Removing some bone and fat behind the eyes with an orbital decompression, he was able to look and feel like his normal self again.

✨Endoscopic Brow Lift and Blepharoplasty✨

Often we call this procedure an “Upper Face Lift”. This lovely patient had an endoscopic brow lift, which is my favorite procedure for a full brow correction. She also had an upper and lower blepharoplasty, or Quad Bleph, with fat transposition.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to explain to patients the importance of the brows. Many people who complain of looking tired or have heavy eyelids often have droopy brows (brow ptosis) that pushes down on the eyelids. Without addressing the brows with lifting and brow contouring techniques, we are unable to achieve the desired rejuvenated appearance around the eyes. 👁️

✨Ptosis Repair and Blepharoplasty✨

I find ptosis repair to be one of the most difficult surgeries I perform because it involves manipulation of the muscle that lifts the eyelid, but is also affected by the surrounding tissues, post operative healing course, and even neurologic signaling from the brain.

This lovely patient had a bilateral external ptosis repair (levator resection) to lift the eyelids to see better and a blepharoplasty to improve her cosmetic outcome.

Now she can see how good she looks!! 👁️

Corrective Plastic Surgery can be challenging but very rewarding. 😍

Unfortunately, I see this all too often in my practice. Many physicians market themselves as “oculoplastic surgeons” or “eyelid experts” without the proper training and credentialing. Not only does it take a well-trained expert certified with (me! 🙋🏼‍♀️) or to fully understand the mastery of this delicate anatomy.

Credential your surgeon for proper training, experience, and board-certification. If we can do it right the first time, why make life more challenging? If you do end up with an unfortunate complication, I got your eyes handled. 👀

Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty with Fat Transposition

When we perform a blepharoplasty of all 4 eyelids, we often refer to this as a “Quad Bleph”. This involves excision of excess skin, fat sculpting and adjusting the lower eyelid fat pads to restore volume along the orbital rim. All of these techniques give the patient a more refreshed and natural look.
