Last week, our Director, Rabbi Mendy, had the opportunity to deliver the invocation at the Miami-Dade County Board of Commission meeting.

We wanted to share a powerful excerpt from his speech and thank Miami-Dade County for having him and spreading our powerful message:

“We are taught that every person carries a Divine spark — a light meant to illuminate the world. Government, too, is sacred work when it serves to protect that light in every individual — ensuring that each soul has dignity, opportunity, and belonging.”

Every single member of our community is key in ensuring a truly inclusive Miami.

Our last week of Friendship Camp 2025 started yesterday and we are having a blast. Seeing the friendships we build all year, Sunday after Sunday, culminate in a summer camp full of trips, fun, and warm memories is the best feeling. We’re not just filling summer days with activity, we’re building lifelong friendships and a truly inclusive Miami. 🫶

“He’s pretty shy. He might just do his own thing”.

That’s what James’ aid told us on his first day of Friendship Camp.

We assured her that was no problem, but we had a sneaking suspicion that was going to change. There’s just something magical about camp.

And we were right! As soon as James met his new buddy, Daniel, his days of sitting by himself were over.

He was trying new things with his new friend and loving every second of it.

These moments mean everything.

So, to everyone who makes camp happen, whether you sponsor, donate, volunteer, or trust us with your child, YOU make the magic happen and we are so grateful. 🫶

Think all Sophie wanted to do was color? 🖍️

Think again!

Her summer was about to get a whole lot brighter at Friendship Camp! ✨

Sophie, with her trusty box of markers, was perfectly happy in her own little world. She loved the quiet, the vivid hues, and the smooth glide of color on paper. New places? New faces? Not really her jam.

Her Friendship Circle buddies were happy to just color next to her. But slowly, shy smiles turned into giggles. Tentative hellos blossomed into shared secrets. And Sophie? She wasn’t just coloring anymore. Suddenly, her hands were clasped with new friends, her feet were dancing to new rhythms, and her smile was shining!

Every day brought a new “first” – a new experience, a new friend to share a laugh with. 😄

This is what her mother texted us this Friday morning: “I honestly have not seen her this happy in a very long time when she wakes up and sees that I pull out the T-shirt for Friendship Circle. She actually has a smile on her face and gets out of bed happily it’s really been a blessing thank you so much.”

Friendship Camp was a launch pad. It was where Sophie, the quiet colorer, found herself, her confidence, and a whole circle of friends who truly understand and celebrate her.

Her summer isn’t just colorful, it’s vibrant, alive, and full of the most amazing connections. 💖

Each and every one of our volunteers are amazing, but we just want to take a moment to highlight ✨

Ava dives into every day of camp with an explosion of energy. 💥 Her giant heart grows bigger with each new friend she makes. 💗 She knows how to make every moment fun and makes sure every single one of our Friendship Circle buddies are included! Just look at all these happy faces. 🥹⬆️

Friendship Camp Summer 2025 has officially HIT THE ROAD! 🚌

The joy, the laughter, the friendships blooming — this is what it’s all about.

For so many kids with disabilities in our community, opportunities like these simply don’t exist without the dedication and support of our incredible Friendship Circle family.

Our Friends@Home program does much more than just put teens together for an hour each week. It creates friendships that last a lifetime and makes sure everyone has real friends that show up to celebrate important milestones.
