Nonemergency toenail injuries may be treatable with at-home care techniques. However, if you can't stop the bleeding quickly, if your nail is seriously cut, torn, or detached from your nail bed, or if your affected toe is misshapen, you should seek medical care right away.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a type of treatment used to speed up healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, gangrene, wounds that won't heal, and infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen. It has also been approved for more than a dozen conditions ranging from burns to bone disease, including:

Carbon monoxide poisoning
Cyanide poisoning
Crush injuries
Gas gangrene (a form of gangrene in which gas collects in tissues)
Decompression sickness
Acute or traumatic reduced blood flow in the arteries
Compromised skin grafts and flaps
Infection in a bone (osteomyelitis) that doesn't respond to other treatment
Delayed radiation injury
Flesh-eating disease (necrotizing soft tissue infection)
Air or gas bubble trapped in a blood vessel (air or gas embolism)
Chronic infection called actinomycosis

We are proud to now offer Swift Treatment at our clinic! WHAT IS SWIFT®?

Swift is a new technology, developed in the UK, which has been licenced for the general treatment of skin lesions in Podiatry and Dermatology. Swift uses microwave energy which is delivered through a special probe applied to the skin to treat the affected tissue.

DOES IT HURT?

It is not uncommon for patients to feel a sharp sensation, similar to an injection. Unlike most treatments for verruca, pain felt during the treatment quickly subsides, and only in rare cases is there any prolonged pain.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER TREATMENT?

In some cases the treated area may feel sore but will not prevent you undertaking normal daily activities.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

This is dependent on how you respond to treatment. In some cases, you may need more than one treatment (these can be from 14 days to over a month apart depending on the response). Your Podiatrist or Dermatologist will be able to discuss this with you.

CAN ANYONE RECEIVE THIS TREATMENT?

With a few exceptions, most people with skin lesions would be able to have this treatment. Your Podiatrist or Dermatologist will carry out an assessment prior to treatment and be able to advise you on this.
