Here’s how licensed naturopathic doctors (NDs) are contributing to the revolution in wellness:

🌿 Whole Person Health: NDs emphasize a holistic approach to wellness, treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of a disease.

🌿 Integrative Approach: NDs skillfully combine natural therapeutic traditions with modern science to restore and optimize health, offering patients a wide range of treatment options that prioritize the least invasive, most effective methods.

🌿 Preventive Medicine: NDs focus on preventing illness and promoting health. By addressing underlying imbalances and optimizing health, they work to prevent diseases before they even occur.

🌿 Patient Empowerment: NDs empower patients to take control of their health by providing education and collaboration that puts the patient in the driver’s seat of their own health.

🌿 Personalized Treatment Plans: NDs develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs, preferences, and goals.

🌿 Focus on Root Causes: Instead of simply managing symptoms, NDs aim to identify and address the underlying root causes of illness.

Only 10-12% of adults are getting the recommended serving of fruits and veggies each day. Yet, nourishing your body is such an important part of taking care of your health.

Who Needs Dietary Supplements? Most of us!

Even if you already nourish yourself with a ‘whole foods, plants-first’ diet and have an active lifestyle, you may still benefit from an individualized plan for certain dietary supplements because…
🍎 Our food supply shows diminished nutrient content due to factors such as soil erosion and chemical runoff from conventional farming and manufacturing.
🥕 We too often reach for convenience foods that are processed and low in nutrients–filling us with empty calories and artificial ingredients.
🥦 Stress increases the body's need for nutrients. Nutrition & stress is a 2-way street!
🍇 We often aren’t doing enough to support gut health (the microbiome).

🥬 Certain prescription medications can affect nutrient absorption.

Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) have in-depth understanding of the many ways the human body relies upon vitamins and minerals to facilitate physiological processes that support physical and emotional health. When there is even a mild nutrient deficiency or a problem with absorption of nutrients, those processes cannot take place and can lead to chronic illness.

It’s ! Let’s take a closer look at why exercise is so great for mental health.

When we pump up our heart rate we increases blood flow to your brain - and what’s good for your heart is also good for your head. Plus, we release endorphins as we work out while also decreasing our cortisol levels. Exercise also stimulates the release of neurohormones that can improve cognition and mood.

Day two of FNPA’s Roots of medicine educational conference was another incredible day of education and connecting with fellow Naturopathic Doctors. From crafting root beer and tinctures with Dr. Nagel to how to creating aloe-infused honey with Dr. Klughers and closing the sessions with a restorative meditation led by Dr. Peven—every moment was enriching. The evening wrapped up with music, dancing and laughter as everyone came together to celebrate this incredible weekend and the joy of community. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

We have another great pre-recorded lecture with Dr. Dickson Thom titled “Biological Medicine – The Future is Now.” Thank you Dr. Thom for being a part of the inaugural Roots of Medicine educational conference.

Topic Description
This presentation introduces Biological Medicine as a time-tested yet forward-looking system that integrates natural healing principles with modern diagnostic technologies. It focuses on restoring homeostasis by addressing imbalances in organ systems and highlights chronic illness as a result of unresolved internal stressors like trauma and toxins. The presentation also outlines personalized treatment strategies, contrasts conventional and functional medicine, and offers self-care protocols along with case studies for patient transformation.

He earned my first Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree in 1986 and a second in 1989, serving as Dean and professor at NCNM for over 25 years. In 2009, he received the “Vis Award” for my dedication to the Healing Power of Nature as demonstrated through his work, life, and community service.

He remains devoted to helping individuals overcome challenges and achieve this dynamic equilibrium.

Access to Naturopathic Medicine for All Floridians

Florida Naturopathic Physicians Association is working alongside citizens like you to create and maintain legislation that will give citizens the choice of natural medical care from qualified Naturopathic Doctors (ND or NMD). NDs are the only healthcare professionals trained to utilize natural, non-toxic therapies alongside current medical advances to identify the underlying cause and appropriate therapies for serious, acute, and chronic illnesses. NDs provide care for all aspects of family health from prenatal to geriatric care, with a special focus on creating and maintaining a foundation of optimal wellbeing for each patient.
