Thank you to Penny Kendall-Reed, ND for being one of our amazing pre-recorded speakers! Her topic is “Insulin Resistance or Genetic Resistance? Altering Genes to Modify Insulin Pathways”.

Topic Description
Insulin resistance is estimated to affect 40% of individuals worldwide. The CDC estimates that a staggering 84% of cases remain undiagnosed. Factors contributing to these numbers include poor diet, lack of exercise and environmental toxicity. However, the most important yet least-recognized contributor is systemic inflammation.

It is estimated that 80% of all major human diseases are mediated by inflammation and while there are numerous pathways leading to this pathology, the one proving to be overwhelmingly important is chronic stress and the associated dysfunction of the HPA axis. The connection between inflammation, sleep deprivation, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome can no longer be ignored. We must address all sides of the stress-sleep-inflammation-insulin resistance equation to successfully treat our patients.

Treating this successfully requires a far deeper understanding of the specific individual genetic factors.

Regardless of your experience with homeopathy, its use in any primary care or specialty practice can be simplified to help your acute and chronically ill clients on their path to wellness. More about the lecture
GLP-1 receptor agonists have revolutionized the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity, with growing applications in metabolic and cardiovascular health. As more patients seek integrative approaches and use botanicals or dietary supplements alongside conventional therapies, healthcare providers must be equipped to identify potential interactions and understand synergistic effects.

This CE session will provide a foundational overview of GLP-1 agonists, review their mechanisms of action, and explore current evidence on interactions with commonly used supplements and botanicals. Clinical considerations, safety profiles, and potential for optimizing outcomes through integrative and vitalistic naturopathic strategies will be discussed.

Sussanna Czeranko, ND is presenting the tantalizing story of Louise Stroebelle that will leave you with a deep love for our Naturopathic roots. Here’s her description:

When Benedict Lust met Louise Stroebelle, she was the proprietress of a 60 acre health retreat center called “Sanatorium Bellevue” in Butler, New Jersey, just a 30 mile train ride from New York City’s Central Station. As an accomplished young woman travelling off the beaten track, she incorporated the best of natural medicine (Just, Kneipp, Bilz and others) she researched in Europe in the late 19th century into her centre. Over her lifetime she established thriving hydrotherapy spa clinics in America. She was the silent half of a dynamic partnership that would change the face of health care in America, though sadly a forgotten and unrecognized voice to the birth of Naturopathy’s history and story.

More about Dr. Czeranko

Sussanna Czeranko, ND uses an extensive armamentarium of traditional naturopathic therapies. As the Curator of the Rare Books Collection Emerita at National University of Natural Medicine, she completed a twelve book series entitled In Their Own Words.

Sussanna is the founder of The Breathing Academy, a training institute for naturopaths to incorporate a scientific model of breathing therapy called Buteyko into their practice and is a founding member of International Congress of Naturopathic Medicine.

She currently lives and practices at her medical spa located on a lake with minerals exceeding more than 300 grams per liter of water at Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan, Canada.
