Growth in therapy isn’t always visible. Sometimes it happens quietly beneath the surface. What can look like a plateau is often your child’s brain consolidating what it has learned, generalizing skills into real life, or building confidence before the next big step. Progress doesn’t always look like “more words,” “better focus,” or “fewer meltdowns.” Sometimes it’s less obvious: calmer transitions, more engagement, or better self-regulation. These quiet shifts mean the foundation is strengthening, not stalling.
True plateaus, on the other hand, usually show up as several weeks of frustration, regression, or low motivation, even with new strategies in place. That’s when it’s worth checking in and asking your therapist if it’s time to tweak the plan.
✨ Progress isn’t gone — it’s just shifting. Trust the process and look for the quiet wins. 💛
