Is it possible to be allergic to chocolate?
Chocolate allergies are rare, but they can occur. They are typically caused by an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in chocolate, such as:
Cocoa (theobromine)
Milk proteins
Nuts (e.g., almonds, hazelnuts)
Soy

Symptoms can include hives, swelling, itching, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and shortness of breath.

If you suspect you have a chocolate allergy, it is important to see an allergist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
