Autism in Girls Looks Different

Autism in girls can be quieter and easier to miss. It may show up as strong social awareness but difficulty keeping up, masking to fit in, intense interests that look typical, or internalized anxiety rather than outward behaviors.
Because it doesn’t always match what people expect, many girls are overlooked or identified later. Recognizing these patterns early can make a meaningful difference in support, confidence, and long term outcomes.

If you’ve noticed signs like these in your child, reaching out for guidance can be a helpful first step.

Supporting connection, community, and meaningful opportunities 🤍

PPA is proud to support The Social Cog and their upcoming Sunrise to Sunset fundraiser, helping create spaces where adults with autism can build friendships, strengthen social skills, and experience a true sense of belonging.

Events like this play an important role in supporting social development, independence, and real life connection beyond the clinical setting.

Save the date for May 2, and consider getting involved or supporting a cause that continues to make a lasting impact in our South Florida community.

Showing up for the community 💪

This past weekend, Dr. Carella joined Moshe Banin, ED of One House, and Elisabeth Hayes, BCBA, at the “One WOD” autism fundraiser, a community workout in support of autism awareness in South Florida.

The event supported One House, an organization focused on creating opportunities for adults with autism through community, continued growth, and independent living.

Moments like these are a reminder of how important connection, support, and community are for individuals and families navigating autism.
