Today, our freshmen and members of the Respect Life Club heard from Dr. Grazie Christie ’87, Medical Director of the Archdiocese of Miami’s Pregnancy Centers. Dr. Christie delivered a heartfelt and informative presentation on the sanctity of life, the Church’s teachings on abortion, and ways we can compassionately support those affected by it. It was an inspiring and moving session that reminded us of the importance of defending life at every stage, from conception to natural death. Thank you, Dr. Christie, for being such a powerful witness to our faith and sisterhood.

On Thursday, our Care Club led a meaningful Cancer Awareness Evening, honoring those affected by cancer and inspiring our community to take action.

The event brought together members of the Live Like Bella Club, Agape Prayer Group and National Honor Society, who each played a role in the evening’s activities. The Live Like Bella Club partnered with OneBlood to host a blood drive, uniting students in a lifesaving effort, collecting donations that will help local hospitals provide critical transfusions and treatments to patients in need.

The Agape Prayer Group led the rosary, offering heartfelt prayers for cancer fighters, survivors and those who have passed away. The evening also featured a powerful testimony by Aliette Arner ’96, whose words reminded students of the strength found in faith, hope and sisterhood.

Throughout the month, the National Honor Society and Care Club have led luminary sales in support of Cancer Awareness, helping light the way toward hope and healing. With 1,427 luminaries sold to date, our community has raised an incredible $7,135 to support the fight against cancer. Sales will continue through October 31, with all proceeds benefiting local organizations dedicated to research, treatment and patient care.

We thank Nicole de Lara Puente ’96 from , Manny Alfonso from , Eric Pino from and Victoria Milian ’20 from for joining us and sharing how these contributions make a meaningful impact in the lives of those battling cancer.

Last night, we welcomed back licensed mental health therapist Mr. Adolfo Rosales, M.S., as the guest speaker for our Partners in Formation Parent Education Series. Earlier this week, Mr. Rosales met with our faculty and staff to discuss supporting student well-being, and last night he continued that conversation with our parent community.

Drawing from his extensive experience working with children and adults, he led an insightful session titled “How to Build a Resilient Teen: A Conversation on Anxiety, Perfectionism, Emotional Growth, and How Parents Can Help.” Together with his team from SoMi Counseling, he shed light on the developmental challenges teens face today and provided practical strategies for parents to better understand, communicate with, and support their children.

We are grateful to Mr. Rosales and the SoMi Counseling team for fostering this important dialogue and for empowering our community with empathy, awareness and actionable guidance.
