To be reminded of death
is to be reminded of life.

Grief, so precious, so tender.
She moves with unapologetic grace
she comes without warning.

She carries with her
a gentle fierceness.
The sound of her voice
can move mountains.
She doesn’t even know her power
it lives in her the way a flame lives in fire.

She moves like a storm,
sweeping away all the broken sediment
the attachments, the old wounds,
the comforts we cling to
just to feel safe.

Witnessing her
is like watching a phoenix
rise from the ashes,
teaching us to alchemize our pain,
making way for fresh life.

Many shy away,
unable to withstand her brilliance,
How do you hold
that which cannot be contained?

She cannot be convinced or restrained.
You can’t reason your way through her depths.
She can only be felt.

When she arrives,
everything slows,
and what is essential
becomes undeniable.

Only an unguarded heart
can traverse her portal
and find the medicine inside her storm.

It takes a body willing to soften,
to break open,
to receive the alchemy she brings.

You must be present to feel her
Raw.
Stripped.
Vulnerable.
Surrendered.
Willing to let her in.

I feel her move through me.
She humbles me deeply,
reminding me of my own mortality,
my own fragile humanity,
clearing away any guardedness,
making room for openness.

Allowing me to feel
the deep connection with
the trees,
the earth,
the sun,
the flowers,
the smile of a stranger,
the laughter of a child.

She invites me to wake up
to the ever-changing nature of this existence.
She clears the path for gratitude,
reverence for this life,
the full spectrum of the gift
of the human experience.

Inspired by my dear friend Jess,
and in tender remembrance of her father

When Pain Arises, It’s an Invitation to Lean In
I had a tender moment earlier where I felt myself leaning into something vulnerable—and it felt scary. My first instinct was to turn away; it felt too big, too overwhelming to face. As I reflected, I realized the fear wasn’t from the vulnerability itself but from the worry of being overwhelmed by my inner critic. In turning away from that fear, I was unintentionally turning away from the part of me that needed the most care- my inner child.
When we feel pain, we can pause and recognize it as a signal to remember, “there’s a part of me that needs support right now.” Instead of turning away, we can gently lean in with care and tenderness. Imagine yourself as a young child when approaching these inner vulnerabilities—offering openness, warmth, and a compassionate space where all feelings are welcome.
I’d love to know if this resonates with you. What has challenged or supported you in remembering to turn towards yourself, rather than away, during those tender moments?

“I don’t want to just be dragged around through the day,” she whispered as I checked in with my inner child after a walk. With her words came an image of a young child being hurried through a crowded store, struggling to keep up with the one-track-minded adult pulling her along.
I realized I had just finished my walk, lost in thought about everything I needed to accomplish. The irony wasn’t lost on me—I had used time meant to clear my head to stress about my to-do list.
How often do we live this way? Rushing through the day, disconnected, our minds racing while our bodies try to keep up.
Take a moment now: soften your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and take a deep breath. Remind yourself—you don’t have to be flustered to get things done. When we’re present and grounded, we move through the day with clarity and flow.
Your inner child invites you back to the present moment, where ease and joy are waiting beneath the hustle.
If this resonates, my Inner Child Class Series explores these themes in depth—nurturing presence, ease, and connection to your inner wisdom. It starts in February on Tuesday evenings online. Drop a ✨ below, and I’ll message you the details!

Your triggers aren’t the enemy.

Often times when an uncomfortable emotion surfaces such as shame or anxiety, we feel uneasy and wish that feeling would go away.

It’s important to remember that our bodies are simply the messengers, communicating valuable information with us, offering a window into our inner world.

Our triggers help us identify the pain points that are coming to surface to be acknowledged and cared for.

Our uncomfortable emotions are not the enemy. We can fall into patterns of being harsh with ourselves, this can often amplify the feeling inside.

Imagine a young child who’s really trying to get your attention, if you were to dismiss or ignore that child they will likely continue to get louder and bigger.

However, if you turn gently and compassionately towards that feeling, this allows the part of you to feel seen.

Sense what this part of you is needing, perhaps a hug or some reassurance. Often times it will relax and settle as it genuinely feels your care. You can also thank your body for communicating with you and let it know you want to continue to develop a deeper relationship.

Over time, this practice can help us develop trust with ourselves, which helps us realign with our intuition.

What would feel nourishing in my body right now?

This is something that can really get lost in day to day responsibilities.

If you’re anything like me, you have a strong inner manager who really prioritizes productivity. Which ironically enough often leaves us in a state of burnout and shutdown to compensate for the lack of downtime.

After a couple days in nature over the weekend, I noticed I felt really grounded and refreshed. I was more in touch with what my body was asking for.

Nourishment.

I was more attuned to what I was needing in the moment. Feeling hungry? Grab a snack. Feeling the heat? Take a dip in the creek. Need to rest? Lay on my yoga mat. Thirsty? Have some water.

I shared with my therapist this morning that I have a lot of patterning around ignoring what my body is asking for and just pushing through on my tasks.

I spent some time feeling into how connected and supported I feel when I spend time outside. I shared that this inner sense of softness feels uncommon yet deeply familiar.

I’m reminding my body it’s safe to feel relaxed. This is a process of corrective emotional experiences to familiarize my body with feeling nourished and grounded.

This experience has reminded me how taking intentional time to rest is a proactive way to feel more aligned, at ease, resilient, and focused in our lives.
