With Nowruz approaching, I’m sharing some of my favorite places to eat Persian food in NYC. Both of my parents were born in Iran, and for me Persian culture has always been most vividly expressed through food. Our dishes are slow, layered, and deeply labor-intensive—much like the love behind them. In Persian homes, cooking is how care is shown, generosity is offered, and community is gathered around the table.
Perhaps that’s why, despite the many Persians who call New York home, there are still so few Persian restaurants here.
