Just because something is COMMON doesn't mean it's NORMAL‼

Our bodies are always communicating with us. We can either choose to ignore the signs, or work on finding the root cause.

- Bloating after every meal can be common, but not normal.

- Feeling generally tired or fatigued can be common, but not normal.

- Having extremely painful periods every month can be considered common, but it is not normal.

- Having regular headaches/migraines can be common, but it is not normal.

- Struggling with insomnia can be common, but not normal.
.. and the list goes on and on and on.

Finding the root cause can be a LONG and hard journey....but self-knowledge is the answer. And that is why I love Ayurveda. Every single protocol is personalized according to each individual. After all we are all unique.

Let's create a new normal the works for you!

We all know someone who eats only the “correct foods”, is into all the latest health fads, but still looks unhealthy.

Conversely, we probably know someone else who has an appalling diet but always seem to be in the best of health.

While what you eat is important, how you digest the food you eat is more important according to Ayurveda. We also consider your digestive capacity, Agni, a key part of the digestive process.

The digestive fire (Agni) is responsible to break it down the food we eat. This refining process allows our cells, tissues and organs to extract the nutrients they need. When the digestive process is efficient, our metabolism supports the elimination of toxic waste that could accumulate in our bodies otherwise. This process happen daily and naturally as long as you are nourishing your body with the appropriate foods.

Here are a few key points for improving your digestive fire:
-Move your body
-Include all six tastes in your meals – sweet, sour, salty, bitter pungent and astringent
-Prefer cooked food instead of raw
-Eat in silence and away from digital gadgets
-Eat light and easy to digest food.

How is your digestion?

I don’t know about you, but I’m done with shallow retreats 😒

If you, like me, are always looking for self-knowledge and ways to become the best version of yourself, you must have attended some retreats that do not deliver the transformation that you expected.

Over the years I've done retreats everywhere you can imagine: United States, India, Costa Rica… learning from many different mentors.

Realizing this gap, I decided to develop a unique retreat experience✨

Together with Therese Skovgaard, we have created a transformative and at the same time pleasurable retreat, with practices that you can incorporate into your daily life.

We mixed the power of self-knowledge, with relaxing activities in a paradise environment, which is CASA PALMELA, in Portugal. The event will occur on September 25th-30th.

RETREAT HIGHLIGHTS:
🌿A PRIVATE AND EXCLUSIVE WORK SESSION WITH OUR EXPERTS TO SETUP YOUR PERSONALIZED WELLNESS PROGRAM.
🌿BOAT RIDE WITH SUNSET MEDITATION
🌿VINEYARD AND MARKET TOURS – IN AN AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE
🌿MEDITATIVE TILE PAINTING
🌿AYURVEDIC MASSAGE
🌿YOGA, MEDITATION,BREATHWORK...and so much more!

Feeling a little lost and disconnected can happen at any time of life and is absolutely normal, especially given the challenging times we are living through.

We juggle multiple to-do lists between homelife, kids, and work. Is there any time left for us by the time we finish our chores?

You may think it is impossible to find time for yourself, but the good news is that WE CAN break this cycle.

It is possible to work through emotional blockages, so that you can “get back” to how you want to be, feeling happy, hopeful and in equilibrium.

When we break patterns we find healthy outlets for understanding these emotions that aren’t just "more of the same".

Sometimes we have to take a step back, get away from our routine and immerse into ourselves. The answer lies inside each one of us. The clear you are the stronger you become.

If want to bring transformation into your life, I invite you to join us in the next Inner Power Retreat. It will be 6 days of inner journey, yoga, ayurveda, meditation and breathwork in the beautiful Casa Palmela - Portugal. To know more - link in bio

Today I celebrate my “Gurus” and “Teachers” that blessed me with their knowleage so I can each day find my own light 🙏

Guru or teacher has always been considered akin to a God in the Hindu culture. Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima is the day to celebrate and pay our gratitude to our Gurus.

This Sanskrit word literally translates to ‘the one who frees us of ignorance’.

The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) as it is known in the Hindu calendar.

On this day, disciples offer puja (worship) or pay respect to their guru (spiritual guide). In addition to having religious importance, this festival has great importance for Indian academics and scholars. Indian academics celebrate this day by thanking their teachers as well as remembering past teachers and scholars.

This is one of the most auspicious days of the year in Hinduism.
Happy Guru Purnima✨

You might be familiar with this scenario: you set an intention to adopt good habits that support your health and wellbeing.

Then one day, you realize you've gone drastically off course. Your health is suffering, your mood is dark, and your outlook is less than inspired.

Taking care of ourselves means learning to identify what diminishes us and when to ask for support. It does NOT mean being perfect. It just means learning to adjust when we start veering off-course.

One of the best things about retreats is coming together with a community with the intention to develop or fall back into good habits. There is something about group energy that helps us not only to forgive ourselves for whatever infringement we accuse ourselves (too much cake! No daily exercise! Not taking care of ourselves!), but also to ride the collective energy to form healthy new habits.

To transform your life - Join us in the magical setting of Casa Palmela, in Setubal - Portugal for the upcoming Inner Power Retreat, on September 25-30, 2022. Link in bio!

ALIGN WITH THE SEASON: SUMMER 🔥

One of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda is that our routines should flow with the seasons, to help us find balance by aligning ourselves with the cycles of nature.

If you are in the south hemisphere Summer is arriving, bringing high temperatures and long days of bright sun. It’s a hot, dry Pitta season and a time for expansion and mobility. Depending on your doshic constitution, it may bring you balance or it may aggravate one of your innate tendencies.

A summer seasonal routine is generally aimed at balancing Pitta and keeping cool, light and grounded. Follow this tips to align with the season and make the most out of the sunny days:

🍃 Choose light foods and small meals that are easy to digest because the agni (digestive fire) disperses in order to help keep us cool.
🍎 Favor the sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes and relish in cool, liquid, even slightly oily foods. Have fresh fruits and salads for lunch (not dinner, as raw vegetables are better absorbed at noon when agni is strong)
💧 Stay hydrated with cool or room temperature water infused with cooling herbs like mint, fennel or rose. Avoid iced water, even at hot days, as it interrupts digestion and creates toxins.
🌞 Summer is filled with vibrant energy. Use it to rise early in the morning, this is a natural and beneficial rhythm to embrace. Before you bath, massage the skin with coconut oil to calm the nervous system and cool the body.
⛱️ Spend time outdoors! But make sure you find a spot in the shade or wear hat and sunglasses.
🏄‍♀️ Exercise at 50%-70% of your capacity, and try to do it early in the morning when the atmosphere is crisp and cool. Follow your workout with a drop of rose oil to the third eye, throat, and navel to help the body cool down.

So often we underestimate the power of rest.
When our hearts feel heavy and our minds cannot quiet down, it is often a sign that we are doing too much.
Pushing too hard.
Thinking too far.
The concept of "more” is not always best for our souls.
Sometimes, the real power, the real abundance, is in the power of “less”.
