Join us in celebrating our University of Miami providers this National Hospitalist Day.

Hospitalists are physicians who care for patients throughout their hospital stay. They oversee daily medical management, guide diagnoses and treatment, and lead the care team to ensure safe, coordinated care. By focusing exclusively on hospitalized patients, they help support a smoother transition from admission through discharge.

As Associate Nurse Manager on the Progressive Care Unit at UHealth Tower, Kimberly Salazar, BSN, RN, leads with supporting day-to-day patient care, empowering her team, and turning compassion into action. 🧡

After noticing many patients in need were being discharged without basic essentials, she launched the Canes Care Closet — a unit-driven initiative providing new, unisex clothing to ensure every patient leaves with dignity. Built alongside the Unit-Based Practice Council and fueled by staff donations, this growing effort is a powerful reminder that care extends far beyond the bedside. Listen In! 🙌

Snoring in children can be common, but it is not always something to ignore.

Occasional snoring from a cold or allergies often goes away. Habitual or loud snoring, however, may be a sign of obstructed breathing or sleep apnea. According to Ramzi Younis, M.D., ongoing snoring can impact a child’s sleep, behavior, and overall health.

Learn how to tell the difference and when to seek care:

Snoring occurs when air doesn’t pass freely through the airway due to a blockage in either the nose or throat.

Coronary heart disease often develops over time, and high blood pressure is one of the most common factors that can impact your heart health.

Hypertension doesn’t always come with warning signs. That’s why knowing your numbers and understanding your family history is so important. If high blood pressure runs in your family, you may be at higher risk and early action can make a meaningful difference.

Talk to your provider, stay informed, and take steps today to protect your heart for the future.
