Years as a midwife have shown me that inner challenges bear gifts that would otherwise not be realized. This is epitomized in birth, which is a prototype for overcoming life’s challenges. Most challenges and difficulties have a silver lining. With birth, the silver lining is a beautiful new life. How often is that joyous and wonderful outcome overshadowed during the intensity of the birth process?
As a person of faith, I believe that each challenge is custom-made to bring a person to fulfillment of her potential and to great spiritual growth.
When faced with difficulties, the gut reaction is often to withdraw in fear, to hesitate, to hide; which are normal physiologic reactions that may serve in cases of true imminent danger. But if the danger is merely a perception or is not imminent, those reactions do not serve a purpose. They can lead to further problems on every level - physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, and can escalate to panic, anger, denial or depression.
It is my hope to help my patients to uncover the Divine hidden agenda of health challenges, and to get to the Root Cause, both physical and spiritual.
