I'm launching the Patchouli Phreak Project today, highlighting the most exquisite of my vintage oils, a beautifully aged patchouli with notes that are unique to it. If you love patchouli, this is a must-read, and yes, there is a giveaway if you post a comment by June 25th.

I wrote about my jasmines not performing very well recently and then I found this photo from about 5 years ago when I was collecting a very bountiful flower harvest from my Grand Duke of Tuscany Jasmine. Today is the day that it will be trimed back and well fertilized with organic fertilizer. This huge, beautiful plant is almost 30 years old and I do admit I kind of let my care of it slide in the last few years. Back to loving my Grand Duke of Tuscany!

Is anyone reading this a Jasmine expert regarding their cultivation and culture? I've been growing Jasmine's for over 30 years. There are two I love completely and I'm having problems with them not flowering. My Jasminum sambac Grand Duke of Tuscany is about 29 years old. It's a huge huge shrub in my back Garden. It used to produce masses 9f flowers regularly. Although the plant looks healthy, it seems to be on a floral decline the past few years. Flower production is spotty at most. I just read it does well with regular pruning and I've never pruned it.

I should add with all my plants I'm stingy with the organic fertilizer so that may enter into the equation . The same goes for my Jasmine grandiflorum. It has now filled in over 25 linear feet of fence and is about 6 ft tall. I have not had it pruned back in several years. Again, spotty sparse flowering.

Ditto my Maid of Orleans. I feel terrible about not having complete knowledge of how to maintain these. I've done a lot of online research and can't find specifics. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

If you've read this far perhaps you'd like to read about some super delicious simple syrup I made from the Jasmine a few years ago. Here's my blog entry
