We are thrilled to announce that Alabama Birth Center has officially been granted a birth center license!

🌟We are now the first stand-alone birth center in North Alabama! 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing team members featured in this photo (Elisabeth, Dr. Robinson, Mariah, & Vanessa), and to those not pictured (Tracie, Mr. Johnson, Sarah, and our ACLU attorney, Lindsey ♥️). A special shoutout to everyone supporting us from the sidelines and behind the scenes (including you, Mr. Baxter!). We're also incredibly grateful to Callie, WHNP, from Alabama Women's Wellness Center, who played a crucial role in our early stages. Advocating for Change in Maternity Care: Insights from Nancy Stephenson of

We asked Nancy Stephenson from Woven Passages Doula, "What motivates you to continue advocating for improvements in maternity care and childbirth experiences within your community?" Here's what she had to say:

"Who would’ve thought that in this day and age, women, primarily women in the black/brown community, are dying at an alarming rate over birth-related issues that science, hospitals, and healthcare providers/caregivers have all the tools they need to observe, listen, save, and protect women (who are the backbone of our society at large) and yet do nothing!

We have all this access to information, and yet women still aren’t aware of what their options are and aren’t being treated fairly.

It’s time for a change, and it’s time for women in general to come together and support one another so that we can see these changes occur in this lifetime for the generation to come."

Nancy's words remind us of the urgent need for change in maternity care. It's time for us to unite, raise awareness, and advocate for equitable and compassionate care for all birthing people. Thank you, Nancy, for your dedication to this important cause.
