Today, we’re celebrating Women’s Day by recognizing the leadership and expertise that show up in our hospital every day.

Natalie shared a simple message with our CEO, Allyssa — that seeing a woman lead with purpose is an inspiration. Moments like that matter because they reflect what we work toward on every unit, every shift: showing up for our patients, our families and each other.

On our postpartum floor, our colleagues combine skill, compassion and teamwork to support families through some of life’s biggest moments.

This Heart Month, we are sharing a story that reminds us how quickly life can change and how powerful preparation and teamwork can be.

Last year, Jeff Pollier was gardening with his wife of nearly 35 years when he suddenly collapsed from a heart attack. By chance, one of our HCA Florida Brandon Hospital nurse leaders, Sharon Gibbs, was at the community garden too. She immediately began CPR while another good samaritan ran to the clubhouse to grab an AED. EMS rushed Jeff to our sister facility, HCA Florida South Shore Hospital, where physicians discovered severe blockages in three major arteries.

Through seamless teamwork between South Shore Hospital and Brandon Hospital, Jeff was transferred for advanced cardiac care and life saving bypass surgery. Across both hospitals, our physicians, nurses and care teams worked with one shared goal, getting Jeff home to his wife and grown children.

Jeff’s story is a powerful reminder to learn CPR, know where AEDs are located and take heart health seriously. When every second counts, preparation and teamwork save lives.

Today, Jeff is back where he belongs, beside his wife in the garden, grateful for every moment of what he calls his bonus time. ❤️❤️

We’re raising the bar with AI-enabled care at HCA Florida Healthcare — using technology to support what matters most: more time with patients and clearer communication.

At HCA Florida Healthcare’s UCF Lake Nona Hospital, our emergency care teams are using ambient documentation (with patient consent) to help capture visit details in real time so clinicians can stay focused on the person in front of them. And it’s making a difference: according to a WESH 2 report citing internal survey data (2024-2025), more patients gave “physician communication” the highest rating and said they felt better informed about their care.

HCA Florida Healthcare is home to the state's largest ER network. Our skilled providers are here for you 24/7 — when you and your family need it most. ⁣Find a location close to home: https://www.hcafloridahealthcare.com/specialties/emergency-care?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=sf280012252&utm_campaign=erpatientaccess&sf280012252=1.

The event brought our community together to raise awareness about heart disease prevention, education, and the importance of early detection. According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer — but when it’s caught early, the five-year survival rate is over 99%.

Regular mammograms are key to early detection. Most women should begin screening between ages 40–45, with timing and frequency based on personal risk factors. Women at higher risk may need earlier or additional screening.

Between mammograms, know what’s normal for your body and talk to your doctor if you notice changes.

Schedule your screening today: https://bit.ly/4kRLJUi

From NICU mom to NICU nurse. A full-circle moment at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital.

Today, Schayna is back, this time wearing scrubs and caring for our tiniest patients as a NICU nurse.

“My experience at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital’s NICU is what inspired me to one day become a NICU nurse. This hospital will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Stories like Schayna’s remind us why we do what we do and how compassionate care can leave a lifelong impact.
