For the month of July, our resident spotlight is on Phyllis!

Phyllis was born in West Virginia, then moved with her family to Dayton, Ohio. She grew up with three brothers and two sisters. Phyllis attended Dayton High Schools and studied art as a hobby. This helped with her career years later when she became a color specialist, with enough knowledge of color theory that she could look at a car and knew what shades were needed to achieve the same exact shade on the car.

She met her husband at Hasty Tasty Pancake House 64 years ago. They were together for three years when he asked her to marry him. They worked together at Green Tokai Factory, flying all over the country together. They had a son and a daughter together and were dedicated parents. Phyllis regularly took their kids to club meetings, sports, and Scouts Club. She loved being in nature and with animals, doing yard work and gardening.

Phyllis’s advice for friends and family is “Make sure you do the things in life you want to do. We are all on this Earth for a limited amount of time, so go make the best of it.” We are so happy she's part of the Stoney Ridge family!

June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and one Central Illinois woman isn’t letting the disease define her journey.

Did you know that 1 in 9 people aged 65 or older have Alzheimer's? Alzheimer’s has touched millions of lives, including many residents, family members, and team members at Stoney Ridge. We have joined the fight against the disease by helping raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Donating to the cause enables the Alzheimer's Association to provide quality care and support through their free 24/7 helpline (800.272.3900), in-person and virtual support groups, educational programs and more. It also helps fund research toward treatment, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.

We at Stoney Ridge are dedicated in making a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other forms of dementia. We hope you will support the cause with a donation today.
