Finalizing the class roster for my Friday morning 6 am class @ Mound Collaborative in Miamisburg! We start this Friday, the 9th.

Beginner focused power yoga.

Challenging but not overwhelming.

We will focus on form, alignment, body awareness and flow with the most common power vinyasa poses.

It'll be a great workout and a great way to start your January!

Your mind is like a puppy.

If you take an untrained puppy on a walk- it's going to try to pull you in all different directions

It will roll in something dead and try to run out in front of traffic to chase a leaf that’s blowing across the road

It’s going to be scared of new situations and places it's never been

It might eat something it's not supposed to

It WILL act impulsively

That doesn’t mean you just let it do these things

You don’t just stand there are let it roll in s**t and say “oh, thats just the way it is!”

You stop the puppy from doing those things, because YOU are holding the leash.

You direct it away from what it shouldn't do and you teach it what it CAN do

If there isn’t anyone around that knows how to train it, the puppy will keep practicing these chaotic behaviors and grow into a dog with behavioral issues

It might end up reactive, aggressive and fearful

It could even turn out the opposite- overly friendly, jumping up and licking everyone. Knocking people down and hurting them because they can’t control their excitement

Both outcomes suck. Both are unregulated dogs that don’t know how to properly behave

However, WITH the proper training and guidance- these problem behaviors usually won’t develop

Even if they are predisposed to behaviors due to breed or other genetics, the behaviors are usually able to be managed or channeled into other more productive outlets

The amazing thing about this is that YOU are the one holding the leash of your puppy-mind

As humans, we have access to higher thought

We have access to books, videos, skills, abstract thought & future planning.

We can literally train ourselves

We can even teach ourselves HOW to train ourselves- like I did by studying it all for the last decade

Nobody volunteered to teach me these things.

Every time you notice your mind chasing a leaf and running directly into a busy street, you can pull the leash back

You can direct your mind to something else

Go into it KNOWING that your mind WILL keep trying to chase the leaf

Especially if its practiced doing so for 30-50+ years. It's a habit.

Pull the focus back anyway

Remember that you are the one holding the leash

Over and over and over again

Until your mind learns not to.

Repetition. Repetition. Repetition

You formed the current habit by repeating it and you can literally form any other habit you want, by repeating it.

Don’t give up

You will fail at times

You will fall completely off course

You will sometimes not realize that you rolled in s**t again until after its too late.

Go wash it off and try again.

It doesn't matter how many times it happens

It only matters that you try again

That you pick up the leash and decide where you want to go

The one holding the leash has alllll the power

Putting together an early morning group class in a private room at my office building 🖤

This series will focus on learning body awareness in the most common power vinyasa poses. It will be progressive in nature- each class building on the previous one. Expect enough repetition to build mastery in the sequences, then adding on more advanced movements as time goes on.

No experience is necessary but expect to be challenged! Power yoga is a full body workout that also prioritizes mobility and mental focus. You’ll get stronger, move easier and feel more connected with your body. Beginner friendly doesnt mean easy- just accessible. I'll demo moves & help you learn, rather than breeze through them like in faster paced / larger classes.

This series is great for

-beginners who want to get started in a less intimidating atmosphere

-moms who want to improve their core strength and mental health

-people who sit at desks for work and want to improve their posture

-weightlifters or runners wanting to add mobility & variety to their workouts

-experienced yoga practitioners who just want dedicated time to go deeper into their practice

-students who regularly attend group classes but feel unsure about their form in certain poses

-anyone who just wants a great functional workout in before they start their day

I work with mostly women. The over achieving type of woman that's successful in basically everything she does but still isn't happy. The kind that takes care of everything and everyone, and always puts herself last. The ones who can't say no and are always burnt out and resentful. The people pleasers.

Something that almost ALWAYS comes up, is a specific situation that they've clearly outgrown but just wont let go of.

They always list allll the reasons why it used to be this great perfect thing, and why they they "can't" walk away. Or the potential of the thing. Sometimes its a relationship- other times its a job or a friend group. It doesnt matter what it is. The pattern is always the same. The justification based on the past. Holding on because of what it was, while refusing to take into consideration what it IS.

This statement always stings because it touches an inner knowing soo deep inside of you, that youre refusing to listen to.

I know its scary. Ive been there more times than I can count. Enough times that I can PROMISE you that letting go is worth it. Trust your path. Let go of what you know is no longer aligned with your growth.

WHAT IS SHADOW WORK? ✨️

If you're on any type of healing journey, you've probably heard the term shadow work. But what does it even mean?

Put simply, it's the practice of facing parts of yourself that you've hidden. You've hidden them from the world and often times, you've hidden them from yourself.

These hidden parts aren't pretty. They are extremely uncomfortable, which is why you've shoved them down in the first place. But they exist in your subconscious.

Shadow work encourages you to face it all. The fears, the judgements, the shame, the repressed emotions, the hurts... all of it.

These things hold so much power over you, until you face them.

These subconscious fears & beliefs make you do things like hide yourself, self-sabotage, people please, give up and give your power away. They make you feel stuck in your own life and like things are happening to you, and like you're powerless over it all.

It isn't a fun process. It's not all "love & light", like some of the feel-good modalities that exist out there.

Shadow work is heavy. You'll cry. You'll experience intense frustrations and anger. You'll probably question your entire existence, if you go deep enough.

So why even bother? Why willingly subject yourself to that?

Because you'll also experience intense relief and clarity.

Integrating our shadow is where real healing takes place. The things we hide from ourselves become chains, and freedom is on the other side.

I like to compare it to working out.

When you exercise, it's uncomfortable at first. Muscle soreness hurts as you are healing and your body is building itself back stronger.

It's challenging, but you feel so much better as you gain strength and mobility.

If you stick with it, the things that used to be hard, aren't hard anymore. You can do more, you feel better, and your life changes trajectory. The pain from exercise actually reduces pain overall. It's the same with shadow work.

I use yoga, guided meditations, energetic healing, journal prompts and/or thought exercises to get you started on your own shadow work journey.

I have the next two dates for my full moon yoga classes!

February 9th & March 16th
11am-12:15pm

These are laid back classes that take place in the conference room in my office building by the Miamisburg mound.

They're a blend of vinyasa flow and restorative yoga, with an emphasis on emotional release and reconnecting with your body, as most of my classes are 🫶 everyone gets personal energy healing at the end of class, unless you'd prefer not to and then I just skip over you. But that's usually everyone's favorite part lol.
