Learn about self-help skills with ’s Clinical Director, Kimberly Maki!

At Autism Care Partners, we target self-help skills to help our kiddos become as independent as possible! Self-help skills are skills that most typically don’t think twice about such as teeth brushing, getting dressed, etc. However, when you do not yet have the repertoire of skills to complete these tasks, it can be overwhelming and frustrating!

This is why we individualize our treatment plans to target the proper skills for every kiddo. Through providing support to develop essential self-help skills, little ones can start learning these tasks! Thank you, Kimberly, for teaching us about self-help skills!

ACP had a T-Rexcellent time at the Wistariahurst Museum for their Sensory Friendly Sunday Funday event!

With interactive exhibits designed with sensory differences in mind, gross motor activities, and a dino-themed scavenger hunt to celebrate DINO DAYS, this was a roar-some time you didn’t want to miss!

Ending with a Dinosaur Dance Off and time to learn about Massachussett's state dinosaur, we were thrilled to be a part of such an inclusive event that prioritizes the comfort of kiddos while providing the opportunity for new experiences!

Thank you to our Community Outreach Specialist, Brigitta Shepard, for representing ACP!

The Early Intervention Program is a public program funded by New York State, Nassau & Suffolk counties, and the NYC Department of Mental Health, and is for children less than three years of age who have or are suspected of having a developmental delay and/or disability. Eligibility for the EIP can be determined only by State approved evaluators under contract with the municipality.
If a child is found eligible for the EIP, all services are identified in collaboration with the family and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers to deliver services authorized by the municipality. All services under the EIP are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to families, but health insurance may be accessed, without affecting your family’s benefits. For services provided in community settings that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying those costs.
To access EI services, contact the Nassau County Department of Health at 516-227-8661 or the Suffolk County Department of Health at 631-853-3100 or the Westchester County Department of Health at 914-813-5094. To access EI services within New York City, contact the NYC Help Line at 311.
