COMING SOON! A Reel Series on Family System Truths

01/22/2026

I received a reel request the other day:
“I am pregnant and my sister-in-law (my brother’s sister) throwing me a baby shower. However, she is not planning to invite some of my extended family and is planning to invite her extended family. What do I do?”

Parental alienation, in plain terms:

Parental alienation happens when a child is repeatedly influenced—subtly or overtly—to fear, reject, or feel loyalty conflict toward a loving parent. It’s not about one bad moment or healthy boundaries; it’s a pattern of behaviors that distort a child’s reality, interfere with secure attachment, and force them to choose sides.

The hard truth: it’s a child mental-health issue, not a custody strategy—and the emotional impact can last well into adulthood.

When we try to push down or ignore our emotions they tend to become cloudier, harder to identify, label, and process.

Three easy ways to unwind, destress, or simply fill your reserve. 1. Coloring- this allows you to pair movement, disconnecting, focus, and accomplishment all into one. 2. Describe an Object- noting the color, texture, temperature etc. And 3. Progressive Muscle Relaxation- starting at the top and working your way down to your toes. Notice how each part of your body feels then tense, hold, and release.

Your mind and body are not separate.
They’re in constant conversation.

When the brain detects danger, it activates the nervous system.
Heart rate changes. Muscles tense. Inflammation rises. Digestion slows.
This is biology — not imagination.

But here’s the powerful part:
Your brain doesn’t just respond to what happens to you…
It responds to what you say is happening.

Language influences how your nervous system interprets sensations.
This is why people who feel unsafe in their bodies experience more pain, more fatigue, and more symptoms — even when tests look “normal.”

Shifting from
“I’m broken”
to
“I’m healing”

is not denial.
It’s nervous system retraining.

And when your nervous system feels safer,
your body actually does heal more efficiently.

That’s not mindset.
That’s neuroscience.
