I took this photo because donkeys rarely step up onto the obstacle. We were celebrating her accomplishment. But the donkey’s shadow….😢
So many people go about their days faking being ok. They do what they need to do to get by. People see only the small part they show. Strive to listen and look extra close. A different perspective can help them be seen and feel heard…..especially teenagers 🫏 💕

Sometimes we are going thru stuff and we can’t always see or know what’s on either side at that moment. But if we keep moving along we can and will come out the other side. It is comforting to have people walking the journey alongside us. Then you can look back and realize what it was you were going thru and how far you’ve come! 🥰

Some of the sweetest moments come during our reading groups. Kids practice reading aloud to our horses. They listen, not bc they have to - but because they want to. The horses help students gain confidence in these special moments! 📕 🐴 ☀️

This was a good reminder that it isn’t just the horses who do the work. They often get way more credit because they are adorable…..but there is a lot more to it than just cute horses! Tomorrow we celebrate a Happy Birthday to Kori Cripe who truly puts in more effort than anyone could fathom.

The Effort Paradox 🌿

✨ “The more effortless it looks… the more effort it’s taken.” ✨

Ever had someone say,

“You make it look so easy.”
“You're just out there with ponies, right?”
“You're so calm — I couldn’t do what you do.”

Let us tell you the truth:

💥 What looks calm on the surface is built on hours of safety planning.
💥 What looks simple is the result of years of inner work.
💥 What looks natural is actually deep trauma-informed intention and years of learning.

As facilitators — especially those of us working solo or in small teams —
we carry a lot behind the scenes:
📝 Safeguarding, preparation, emotional regulation, adapting on the fly, chasing invoices, writing notes, designing sessions, learning new things constantly.

And still, we show up gently. We hold space.
We make people feel safe enough to open up in a muddy field with a pony by their side.

That’s not magic.
That’s mastery born of effort.

So if you’re a facilitator and you’re tired — it’s not because you’re weak.
It’s because you’re carrying more than most people will ever see.

💛 Keep showing up.
💛 Keep resting when you need to.
💛 Keep trusting that what looks "simple" from the outside… is actually sacred work.

Drop a 🐎 if this resonates 🙌

He wasn’t super thrilled about the sparkling cowboy hat or boots…..BUT it’s Pennies for Ponies week at Heritage Intermediate!!! All pennies/donations go to these sweet ponies so they can keep helping kids. We are blessed to be so supported and in turn support each and every building. Giddy up! It takes a village…..and a lot of pennies to be able to do what we do. 💕

Creativity. Imagination. Safety. Feelings. Keeping things in. Blocking things out. Forts can represent all sorts of things in the arena. What kids build, what the horses can do…..it’s healing without talking.

This is the perspective we strive to honor. The equine herd is asked by us to be co-facilitators in this mission. We must look out for their well being and emotional health just as intently as we do the clients. If we don’t do right by them, our herd would have a high turnover rate. Clients would lose connections to “their” horses. In this line of work….if the horse’s needs are not heard, cared for, and valued - they can’t keep going. They won’t. Your donations and support help ensure we have the strongest team. Horses, Counselors, Equine Specialists. 💕🫶🏼🦄

Let’s be real — personally, horses might be the most emotionally healing creatures we’ve ever known , I know mine are 🩷🙏

But professionally?
They are not the therapist.

They are the co-facilitator.
The boundary bringer.
The soft exhale
The truth without spoken language.

But they are not here to absorb your client’s emotional load hour upon hour.
Not the emotional sponge.
Not the silent fixer.
Not the unpaid mental health professional.

🐴 We hold the container.
✋🏽 We regulate the space.
❤️ We ensure consent — for horses and humans.

This work is powerful — its feels like its almost magic.
It’s trauma-informed. Consent-led. Co-regulated. Boundaried. Ethical.
And deeply relational.

Let’s do it right.

Yesterday we headed to York Elementary where teachers and student body presented us with SO many exciting things to utilize next year! Let it be acknowledged that our horses are SAINTS. To be in an elementary gymnasium on the day before school gets out…….the energy level……Wow. But what we love the most is each and every building in our corporation finding ways to support our mission. Pennies for Ponies. Dollars for Donkeys. Middle School and High School Teachers donating towards the cause. We are grateful for the thoughtfulness of so many!
