As Halloween approaches, we want to keep everyone safe while enjoying the fun of trick-or-treating! Trick-or-Treating begins tomorrow, Oct 31 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Don't forget about the Halloween parade to follow at the Middlebury Professional Firefighters Local #4843 sponsored by the Middlebury Optimist Club! Here are a few important reminders to have a safe and fun night for all:
For trick-or-treaters:
- Stay visible! Wear bright colors or reflective/light-up gear to help others see you in the darker hours.
- Travel in groups! Stay with your friends/family and don't leave anyone behind.
- Keep to the sidewalks! Walk, don't run! Use crosswalks whenever possible, don't run across the road, and be polite by staying off the yards.
For drivers:
- Stay alert! Drive slowly and be extra cautious when driving around parked or slow vehicles where small children may emerge.
- Turn on your headlights! Even before it gets dark, headlights can help see those trick-or-treaters who may not be as visible in the dark.
- Avoid distractions! Put down the phone!!!
