Hello RISERS! I wanted to do just a little recap from Tuesday's event on domestic violence. It's so important to me that women in violent homes get the help they need. With that said, here are a few points I'd like to highlight from Tuesday's interview with Becky Branton-Griemann:

1) Just because you don't have any money, doesn't mean you can't get out! Fresh Safe Start can help with a security deposit AND your first month's rent! They also can assist with furniture and getting you in touch with people who can provide food and clothing!

2) Call 911 if you are in danger and pretend to order a pizza! If the dispatcher tells you you have the wrong number, come back with, "No, I don't think I need to hear about your specials today. I would just like a pepperoni pizza delivered to....(your address)." They have been trained to know that this is a cry for help and will be at your address within minutes!

3) If you can get to a safe spot (friend/family member, or even your car!), contact the Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) @ (608) 251-4445. Or, you can contact Fresh Safe Start @ (608) 535-9466. If you don't live in the Madison area, please check local resources in your area for domestic abusive assistance.
