What if the goal isn’t getting children to behave…but helping them want to? 💙
Here at Celebree School of Hershey, we focus on building intrinsic motivation: the kind that comes from within.
Traditional discipline relies on extrinsic motivation, aka, outside rewards or consequences. Stickers. Prizes. “If you do this, then you get that.” While those strategies may create short-term compliance, they don’t necessarily nurture independence, responsibility, or a true love of learning.
Conscious Discipline teaches us to prioritize intrinsic motivation, which develops when children feel safe, connected, and capable. When they see that their actions make a positive difference.
We intentionally create environments where children:
💚 Discover their interests and passions through meaningful play and exploration
💙 Feel proud of their effort and growth—not just the outcome
💚 Choose helpful behaviors because they understand how their choices impact others
💙 Build self-regulation skills that empower them to problem-solve independently
Instead of asking, “What do I get?” children begin to think, “How can I help?”
That shift is powerful.
Because when motivation comes from within, children don’t just follow directions—they develop confidence, empathy, and an understanding of why behaviors are helpful or hurtful. That’s the heart of Conscious Discipline. That's the heart of Celebree.
