Congratulations to Adrienne Schrier, Kettering Health Washington Township's DAISY Award winner!

Adrienne works in Maternity and was nominated by a grateful patient who shared that Adrienne comforted her during her stay. Adrienne helped the patient with her practice pushes before labor and helped her go to the bathroom when she moved to post-partum. She even visited her and her baby the next day to check up on them.

“Since 2000, the incidence of colorectal cancer in individuals younger than 50 years old has been increasing by two percent per year," says Dr. Minia Hellan, a surgical oncologist.

And the trend doesn’t appear to be slowing.

Dr. Hellan offers advice on catching colon cancer early and emphasizes the importance of routine screenings.

Nellie helped a patient manage their pain and nausea after abdominal surgery. When the patient told Nellie it was difficult to walk to the bathroom, she brought a bedside commode.

"She never seemed annoyed or frustrated," the nomination reads. "While I know she gets lots of patients with this kind of surgery and other kinds, too, she still made me feel like I was the only one."

Dazaray works in MedSurg and was nominated for going above and beyond to help a patient who was experiencing bathroom issues before surgery.

"It takes someone very, very special, so I can’t even say enough words how impressed I am with Dazaray," said the nomination. Marc was nominated by a patient admitted to the hospital for heart problems. After noticing the patient's anxiety, Marc prayed for the patient.

"I felt the healing power of hope and comfort," the nomination says.
