Yesterday, Middlesex Health hosted our annual Patient Care Technicians Awards Ceremony! Our many patient care techs, including CCU techs, OB techs, ED techs, OR techs and home health aides, are essential to the care and well-being of our patients. They are the backbone of our healthcare system, providing assistance with patients' daily living, monitoring and safety, and their compassion knows no bounds. Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of all that they bring to our organization. Congratulations to the award winners and thank you all for your hard work and dedication throughout the year!

Congratulations to our most recent DAISY Award winner, Chris! Chris’s godson even came to help present the award! Chris was nominated by the family of a patient receiving end-of-life care. Chris's empathy and compassion made a huge impact on them. In their own words: "One nurse in particular, Chris, was exemplary in his care of our loved one and our entire family. His compassion for all of us did not go unnoticed. He is an excellent nurse and treated our loved one with the dignity he deserved. Chris's nursing skills, along with a generous dose of empathy, guided us through one of the most difficult of all days. Chris is the epitome of what we consider an outstanding nurse. We shall be eternally grateful for his care and consideration of all of us." Thank you, Chris, for going above and beyond for this patient and his family! You see our patients and their families through some of the most difficult times in their lives and your compassion towards them is inspiring! Thank you for all that you do!

Congratulations to Daisy Award winner Morgan! Morgan went above and beyond to make sure a patient was comfortable and at ease. The patient had very specific needs that Morgan addressed with precision. In this patient's words, "Right from the start, I started to feel more comfortable when Morgan came into my room and introduced herself. She greeted me with a smile and asked if there was anything she could do for me and if I had any concerns. Even though at times it seemed she was extremely busy, she always took a moment to stop in to make sure I was taken care of. The time I was in the hospital was only four days but during that time I felt I had the best of the best nurse caring for me. Morgan is someone who goes above and beyond performing her job with a smile." A nurse's job is a busy and stressful one, but Morgan made time to make this patient feel as comfortable and well taken care of as possible. Thank you, Morgan, for showing this patient such immense compassion! I am proud to have you on our team!

ONL (Organization of Nurse Leaders) New England held their annual nursing leadership meeting over two days in NH. Nurse leaders gathered together to learn, lead, network and expand our knowledge about policy, advocacy, AI, nurse value, driving one’s mission and above all spending time mentoring and sharing one’s knowledge by continuing to foster a nurse leaders community from the bedside to the c-suite.

I would like to recognize and thank the outgoing President Jennifer Skea Thiesen DNP FNP ACNP NEA,BC, 10 years as the ONL CEO, Amanda Stefancyk Oberlies PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN. I would also like to recognize Senior Director of Development and Government affairs Ashley Waddell PhD, RN, FAAN and the ONL staff that executed a wonderful environment filled with rich content for nurse leaders to lead, learn, making a difference and inspire others!!

During this time I was inducted as the President of ONL New England! I am very honored and excited to support, fulfill and lead ONL over the next year!! Thank you to our members and Board that entrust this responsibility to me.

Our emergency medical services professionals celebrated EMS Week today with a fun cookout! I’d like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the tireless and important work our EMS professionals do each and every day. Your ability to remaim calm and show immense courage, empathy and exertise during life or death situations is inspiring. Thank you for your commitment in keeping our community safe! I appreciate all that you do!

Our mental health professionals at Middlesex Health work tirelessly throughout the year to educate our community about mental health conditions, reduce the stigma by encouraging open conversations and promote overall mental wellbeing and self-care. Thank you for being advocates for healing and hope! I appreciate all that you do!

We had some Magnet-ficent Moments during Nurses Week 2025 here at Middlesex Health! Everyone really showed their spirit by participating in our fun activities like Twin Day, Team Day, our Annual Nursing Celebration and our nightshift ice cream social, amongst many others! This past week was full of pride for everything we accomplished over the past year and hope for the future! I hope you all had as much fun as I did! Bring on Magnificent Magnet 7!
