Our beloved Junior.

Donald Hooper Wiles, Jr, 71, of Middletown, MD, died peacefully at home on July 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

“Junior” lived a full life marked by quiet strength and a willingness to help others. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was born in Frederick in 1953 to Donald H. and Grace E. (O’Neal) Wiles, and attended Middletown schools, where he played baseball whenever his list of chores would allow. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown and a life member of the Middletown Fire Company, since the age of 16. He played recreational softball in several leagues in the valley, most recently with Zion Lutheran’s softball team.

Junior was a “jack-of-all-trades”, having worked for several dairy farmers, Frederick County Highway, Gladhill Furniture (37 years), and as a tree trimmer, all before starting his own furniture repair business that he ran for 16 years.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Jennie Lee (Nikirk) Wiles. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dee and Ric Buchanan, and his pride and joy, grandchildren Abby and Sam Buchanan, as well as stepmother, Patricia Wiles, and seven siblings, George (Martha Jean), Greg, Dave (Debbie), Kenny (Cheryl), Jeff (Krista), Kevin (Marianne), and Donna (Terry), and their families.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church,107 W. Main Street, Middletown, MD The church will be open 3-9pm as a convenience to friends.. A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday, July 31,2025 from the church at 11:00am. Interment to immediately follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company. Casual dress is requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Middletown Fire Company or Zion Lutheran Church in Junior's honor.

Junior's calm strength was a source of support for many, and his memory will continue to inspire compassion in all who knew him.

Frank Edgar Grunwald, 70, of Middletown MD, passed away on April 11, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1955, in Osnabrück, Germany, and immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1956. He grew up in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School in 1973 where he met his wife, Patty. Frank went on to graduate from the University of Maryland Engineering school where he received a civil engineering degree.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Georg Grunwald.

In addition to his wife Patricia (Patty) Elaine Gouker, he is survived by his mother, Christa Helga Gründel Grunwald; his sisters Cornelia (Corny) Grunwald Kennedy (Patrick) and Martina (Marty) Arnhild Grunwald; his daughter Karin Christiana and husband Andrew James (AJ) Burridge; his son Matthias (Matt) Erich Grunwald and fiancé Beatrice (Bea) Ridmann; grandchildren Isaac Delaney Casey, Penelope Wren Herrold, and Oliver Liam Grunwald; Everly Grace and Rhett James Burridge; nephews Travis Garrett and wife Elani; Sean and wife Julia Kennedy; Andrew Kennedy, Thomas
Caffery, and niece Millicent Caffery.

Frank worked for Bechtel Power as an engineer in steam generator replacement in nuclear power plants from 1980 until his retirement in 2013. Frank enjoyed many hobbies including target shooting, working on his cars and restoring his Jeep Wrangler, fishing, cooking. He was a member of the Catoctin Fish and Game Protective Association, and North-South Skirmish Association. For many years he also enjoyed participating as a skirmisher as a Union soldier in 17th
Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. Frank had a brilliant sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Thompson Harman Funeral Home, 31 E Main Street, Middletown, from 5:00 -7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, MD, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 3. 2025. Father Michael Rubeling will preside. There will be a short reception after the service with interment to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

Bruce Bicker Rieser, 70, of Middletown, MD passed away on April 28th, at 4:15 am. He was born January 3rd 1955 in Butler, PA and was the son of the late James Howard Rieser and the late Betty Jane Rieser.

He is survived by his children, daughter Rebecca Rieser, her husband Patrick Hatfield, and son Matthew Rieser; ex-wife Diana Rieser; brother Jack Rieser and wife Allyson, their children Cj and wife Aleysha and their children Anders and James, Anne Constanzer and husband Frank, their children Corbyn and Logan; sister Janie Miller and husband Brian, and their son Jason. He is also survived by Andy and Naomi Durdock, Tom and Terri Durdock, Pam Durdock and Matt Fenstermaker and their son Alek. Bruce graduated from Butler High School in 1973 and attended Butler County Community College. He received an Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting and Design.

He had an interest in Art and Civil Engineering, and was employed as an Architectural Designer in State College, PA. His work included special projects such as site design work and storm water management at the Bryce Jordan Center located in State College, PA. He also worked on the highway design project around the Penn State University campus system in State College.

Bruce was also a camp counselor for Young Life and his Christian faith was very important to him. He was an avid cook, and loved cooking for his family and friends. He took an interest in weather and meteorology, and could often predict the rain just by smell. He had a creative side and was an exceptional artist and musician, and would play guitar for Young Life. Bruce would like to have trees planted in his memory, and wants his loved ones to enjoy crab cakes and a glass of Corona with lime in his honor.

Funeral service and a Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 3rd at Grace Community Church at 5102 Old National Pike Frederick, MD 21702 at 2 P.M. in the youth room chapel. A short service in his memory will commence at 3 P.M.
