Just 20 minutes of sunlight a day stimulates the production of over 200 antimicrobial peptides by the body which help combat fungi, parasites and viruses.

Sunlight triggers the production of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) through a process that starts with ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, which are a component of sunlight. UVB rays in the skin convert a cholesterol compound into a form of vitamin D3, which boosts the immune system and helps the body produce AMPs that fight pathogens like bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

Additionally, sunlight energizes T cells, which are a key part of the immune response, by making them move faster to sites of infection. This increased movement helps these infection-fighting cells travel more quickly to the site of an infection and launch an immune response.

Recent studies have found that inhaling orange essential oil (OEO) can help alleviate weight gain, increase lipolysis (breakdown of fat for energy) and influence appetite-regulating hormones.

Inhaling OEO has been shown to modulate lipid metabolism genes, specifically by upregulating the expression of genes related to fatty acid oxidation (e.g. UCP2, HSL, CPT1) and downregulating those involved in lipid synthesis (e.g. ACC) int he liver and adipose tissue. This suggests that OEO promotes the breakdown of fats for energy.

Also, the volatile compounds in essential oils interact with olfactory receptors and candles stimulate the central nervous system to regulate energy metabolism and appetite. Studies suggest that OEO inhalation can reduce cortisol levels, a stress hormone linked to increased hunger and sugar cravings, which may help suppress appetite.

Studies have also found that OEO treatment improved liver function and reduced fat accumulation in the liver, which also contribute to overall weight management.

It is important to note that these findings are still in there early stages and more research is needed and currently ongoing to ensure absolute safety.
