“Another 2018 study reported that people who ate the lowest-carb diets had a 32% increased risk of death from ANY cause than those eating the highest amount of carbs.

The researchers also found that low-carb dieters had a 51% increased risk of dying from heart disease and a 35% increased risk of dying from cancer, compared to people who ate the most carbohydrates.”

Numerous studies have shown that low-carb and ketogenic diets do not reverse cancer, can speed up cancer growth, and increase your risk of an early death.

A study revealed that low muscle mass is linked t a 36% higher risk of early death.

Reduced muscle mass and strength directly impair balance, mobility and joint stability, making individuals more prone to falls, fractures and the need for long-term care.

Skeletal muscle plays a critical role in glucose metabolism; low muscle mass is associated with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, which are risk factors for heart disease, diabetes and premature death.

Loss of muscle also leads to a decline in physical function and independence, increasing morbidity (sickness) and the likelihood of requiring hospitalizations and surgeries, which carry their own risks.

There is also a strong connection between low muscle mass and increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and CVD-related death, as muscle loss can exacerbate cardiovascular risk factors.

Low muscle mass in cancer survivors is associated with a poorer long-term prognoses, including a higher risk of death from all causes and cardiovascular events.

A study comparing Rhodiola rosea to the antidepressant sertraline (Zoloft) found that both reduced depression symptoms, but Rhodiola was better tolerated and produced fewer side effects.

The study was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, meaning participants were randomly assigned to receive either Rhodiola rosea, sertraline, or a placebo, and neither the participants nor the researchers knew who was receiving which treatment until the end.

Both Rhodiola rosea and sertraline showed improvements in depression symptoms and while sertraline had a slightly greater effect, Rhodiola was more favorable in terms of risk-to-benefit ratio, particularly for mild to moderate depression.

Another positive in choosing Rhodiola over a prescription antidepressant is that Rhodiola is an adaptogenic herb that works to heal your body from stress related hormone imbalances and other health issues, returning the body to homeostasis. This means Rhodiola could provide relief from the depression while possibly healing you for good by returning you to homeostasis and perfect hormone balance.

Please always research before starting any new herbs especially if you are pregnant, nursing, on any prescription medication or have any diagnosed medical condition. It is not advisable to mix Rhodiola with an antidepressant. You must take one or the other.

Another snack mix attempt. This one was made with tahini, organic cereals and nuts.
It’s different and I liked it. Give it a try!
Recipe
Snack Mix
3 cups organic whole wheat square cereal
2 cups organic round cereal o’s
1 cup Mary’s Gone Crackers
1/2 cup cashews, 1/2 cup slivered almonds, 1/2 cup peanuts
1/4 cup sesame seeds
Sea salt sprinkled to taste
Wet ingredients
1/4 cup tahini
3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon sriracha
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons hot water
Mix wet ingredients and add more hot water if necessary
Add the tahini mixture to the cereal mixture.
Spread on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes
