On Wednesday, August 20th, ADAC Prevention Specialist Ashley Nelson tabled at Crispell Middle School for their 6th grade orientation! Ashley was able to introduce herself/her role in the school to parents, gave out information regarding various ADAC programs, and provided information on how to talk to your teen about alcohol, ma*****na, va**ng, and more. She spoke to around 185 parents at the event!

ACT Through Music is excited to announce that we're starting ACT Heart To Heart Connections a bereavement support group open to anyone 18+ who has lost a loved one to su***de. Our first meeting is Wednesday October 1st 7PM-8PM at 123 Pike St Suite 201 Port Jervis NY 12771.

August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day, a day to remember, without stigma, those we've lost and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind 💜 Together, we can support survivors in treatment and recovery and honor the strength of their families.

🎨📝 Our 39th Annual Substance Use Prevention Poster and 8th Annual Prevention Essay Contest is underway! 🎨📝 Our theme this year is:

English theme: "Picture Your Future Through a Drug Free Lens"
Spanish theme: "Imagina Tu Futuro Desde una Perspectiva Libre De Dr**as"

All youth in grades 1-12 are invited to participate in this important awareness campaign. Each year, we receive more than 1500 submissions from young people throughout our community. Please share with all young people you work with in school, recreational activities, after school clubs, and beyond. We want every young person to have the chance to participate and be recognized for their support of a healthy lifestyle. Cash prizes available! Entry form (provided below) must be included with each poster or essay.

🐶 Happy National Dog Day from one of ADAC's mascots, Pete (Prevent Edible Toxicity Everyday)! 🐶

ADAC mascots Pete and Liu (Lock It Up) serve as a reminder to practice safety with Cannabis Edibles, especially the ones that can be mistaken for candy by kids and pets! Store cannabis products out of reach of children, the same way you would alcohol.

ADAC Prevention Educators, Eileen Buckley and Lisa Newkirk provide resources to the Newburgh community at the Healthy Orange Farmer's Market every Tuesday from June to October. Free Narcan trainings as well as Deterra Drug Disposal bags are given out every week along with information on safe prescription drug disposal and harm reduction. Stop by and say "Hi" and get some information! 🍊☀️

On Tuesday, August 5th, ADAC tabled at the Village of Highland Falls' National Night Out event! NNO highlights and encourages community and police partnerships. Prevention Specialist Frankie Wright and Family Support Navigator Evelyn Kemmelman provided ADAC resources through our Prevention Toolkit QR Code, along with info sheets, bags, planter kits, and more! Everyone had a great time at the event! ❤️
