On December 8th, Prevention Specialist Natalie Gatto held a Spin the Wheel at Valley Central Middle School. Students were asked a mix of drug prevention and social emotional questions. Students got a prize for answering the question. There were 7 student volunteers who assisted in this event, too!

🎨📝 Our 39th Annual Substance Use Prevention Poster and 8th Annual Prevention Essay Contest is underway! 🎨📝 Our theme this year is:

English theme: "Picture Your Future Through a Drug Free Lens"
Spanish theme: "Imagina Tu Futuro Desde una Perspectiva Libre De Dr**as"

All youth in grades 1-12 are invited to participate in this important awareness campaign. Each year, we receive more than 1500 submissions from young people throughout our community. Please share with all young people you work with in school, recreational activities, after school clubs, and beyond. We want every young person to have the chance to participate and be recognized for their support of a healthy lifestyle. Cash prizes available! Entry form (provided below) must be included with each poster or essay.

A while back, Orange County Community College - SUNY Orange's Wellness Center held a Women’s Wellness Fair on campus. Students, staff and the public were invited to attend and receive information from many agencies including ADAC. Prevention Specialist, Eileen Buckley and Recovery Specialists Kristin Pineiro and Victoria Cintron provided information on all of ADAC’s services and other relevant topics!

Join Garnet Health for FREE Narcan Training, sponsored by Independent Living, Orange County Government, OASAS, and New York State.

Participants will learn how to recognize an overdose, administer Narcan, and use harm reduction techniques. Attendees will leave with a dose of Narcan.

Narcan Training at Garnet Health Medical Center will be held on December 11, 2025 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in Ground Floor Conference Rooms 2 & 3.

Narcan Training at Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills, Harris Campus will be held on December 18, 2025 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Board Room.

The Newburgh Healthy Orange Farmer's Market celebrated their final event of the season with a group picture of all of the participating vendors and community agencies. 🍊

It was also an opportunity for ADAC to celebrate Red Ribbon Week with the community. ADAC Prevention Specialist Eileen Buckley, brought information on safe drug disposal, resources and recovery, harm reduction and Narcan training to the Newburgh community for the last twenty weeks and looks forward to returning next year!

Toys for Military Tots 2025 is here! WTBQ's 10th Annual Toys for Military Tots Drive has begun, and YOU can help Santa deliver the new, unwrapped toys for children baby to 12 years old. ⛄

If you choose to donate, please drop your new, unwrapped toys in the box at the ADAC office no later than Wednesday, December 10th (as the box will be picked up on the 12th). Please see the flyer for more details!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering a Youth Su***de Support Group for ages 12-17 on the first Tuesday of every month from 6-7:30 starting on May 6th!
The support group is a safe and nonjudgmental place to explore and discuss the complexity of loss, especially after losing someone to su***de.

On Monday, 11/24, Valley Central Prevention Specialist Natalie Gatto held a Spin the Wheel at Valley Central High School. Over 300 students engaged with the table, and she had 12 student volunteers to assist with the event! The students (and some staff) were asked questions about themselves that inspired positive thinking and coping strategies. Prizes were given to anyone who participated! One student even told her that “this was the reason I came to school today”. We are so lucky to do this work!

A Community Resource Day was held at the Lake Street Apartment complex for seniors and families in September. ADAC Prevention Specialist, Eileen Buckley provided on the spot Narcan trainings and information on safe drug disposal. Organizations also provided prizes for a raffle and children enjoyed activities that were provided. Participants and agencies enjoyed the music provided and SNUG Newburgh cooked hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone!
