Middlesex Health Family Medicine Residency

Middlesex Health Family Medicine Residency Middlesex Hospital Family Medicine Residency is an innovative, unopposed 4-year Family Medicine residency program located in central Connecticut.

We offer residents a unique four year curriculum to become better prepared to provide patient care within an increasingly complex medical environment. Our program offers several key advantages to students who are considering applying to residency in family medicine. First and foremost, we will provide them with the opportunity to master the specialty of family medicine in more depth than the traditional three year residency. Second, our residents will have an opportunity to learn in our 3 NCQA-recognized patient-centered medical homes and develop real practice skills now rather than after leaving the program. And last, the additional year provides them with a chance to pursue their passions, the specialty interests that generally cannot be pursued due to the constraints of the three year program. In addition to our expanded curriculum, residents can pursue their passions - the specialty areas in which they are interested for their future practice plans. Eight specific tracks are available, including maternal and child health, geriatrics and palliative care, community and international health, integrative medicine, behavioral health, faculty development, Hospital Medicine, and the personalized track. Our experienced faculty and expansive resources make these tracks an ideal fit for our program and for the incoming resident.

Welcome to our newest Faculty, Dr. Desir!

After Residency at Tufts, Dr. Desir continued on at Cambridge Health Alliance where he worked closely with residents and medical students in addition to daily patient care. Upon moving back to Connecticut, he began working with Quinnipiac medical students while looking for ways to get more involved in resident training. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP). Dr. Desir’s professional interests include resident and medical student education, in office procedures, sports medicine and care for the underserved.
