The NAMI Family Support Group is back at the MHRC with new dates through September!

The NAMI Support Group is a FREE peer-led support group for any adult with a loved one experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. This is the only NAMI support group in the Middletown area!

Join us to learn about:
✨Treatment & recovery
✨Effective communication strategies
✨Self-care
✨Crisis preparation

This group meets in person at the Mental Health Resource Center (175 East Main Street, Middletown, CT) - no registration necessary. Call 860-530-4357 or email mhrc@gileadcs.org for more information.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

This month, Gilead is highlighting J.S. for Matching Campaign. During her time at Gilead, she has found the support and strength to go back to school for a master’s degree and publish a memoir. As she prepares for graduation, she is planning on finding her own apartment, continuing her recovery, and beginning herjob search. Her long-term goal is to teach forensic psychology at the university level.

Her story is uplifting not only because of her strength, but because of the work that staff do behind the scenes to make achievements like these possible.

This is what it looks like when we stand together 💙

Gilead Community Services joined our fellow nonprofits, advocates, leaders, and community members to show our support for the essential services that our state's nonprofits provide. Thank you to Gilead staff, leadership, clients, and board members for showing up at the State Capitol to advocate for funding, resources, and support.

Thank you for showing up and coming out for the Move For Every 1 Road Race this Sunday. This year, we had a jaw-dropping, eye-popping, record-breaking *drumroll please*…600+ team of movers, cheerer, donors, and volunteers!

On this beautiful spring day we had…
🏃‍♀️300 walkers/runners participating with Team Gilead
🙌235 Donors & Sponsors + 18 Fundraisers & 3 Teams raising over $60,000
🤝51 Volunteers helping at First Church, on the route, on the green or at the table
🚶🏻140 Gilead staff & Clients walking, running, or cheering
🏁 15 OAK HILL staff walking or running with Team Gilead
👩‍🎓33 Wesleyan University students including:
📣4 cheerleaders amping up our humungous team
🎺15 Pep Band members tooting their horns on the route
🍽6 lasagnas with seconds to go around
😱1 Grinch scaring everyone across the finish line

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our donors, we also purchased 65 pairs of sneakers for any client who participated.

This was not just an event, it was a movement. Everyone on Team Gilead did their part because they believe in what we do, who we are, and how we belong in the community. That’s over 600 people with someone in their lives that has had or is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. That’s over 600 people who might even have experienced one themselves. That’s over 600 people there for Team Gilead.
