Are you someone who gets nervous or stressed about going to the dentist? Just know.. you are not alone 🫶🏼

You may feel nervous from having past experiences that were negative, a fear of pain, nervous about a procedure, or embarrassed about your current oral health status. However, if you have not been to the dentist in over a year, or longer, your teeth and gums are paying the price. Regular dental exams, X-rays, and cleanings will help prevent dental disease and more serious problems that can need more intensive care, which are usually what someone with dental anxiety wants to avoid. If you keep up with your oral hygiene routine at home and visit the dentist regularly you are more likely to avoid more serious treatment!

Don’t be afraid to discuss your concerns or fears with the dentist!!! We encourage you to talk about your feelings and to ask questions. That is what we are here for. Together we can customize solutions to help reduce any stresses or concerns you may be having to make your experience a more pleasurable one.

Everyone at The Smile Place works together to create the best experiences for our patients. Please do not be embarrassed to come in to see us or to ask questions. We are here to help you and want each dental visit to be as relaxing as it can be. Even if you have not been to the dentist in a while it is better to come in now than never! Give us a call to schedule your next appointment. Make a list of concerns to go over with our dental team. We look forward to seeing you 🦷

3 months is the recommended amount of time in which you should replace your toothbrush however, you may need a new toothbrush before that. WATCH YOUR BRISTLES. Your bristles could start to fray before the 3 month mark and that is when you need to switch out for a new bush! ALSO! Get a new toothbrush after you are sick. Cold and flu season is upon us and each time you or a family member is sick you should change that toothbrush.

A new toothbrush will help keep your oral hygiene successful! When the bristles become frayed the performance of the brush declines, they are even more prone to bacteria growth, and they can cause gum bleeding. If you were sick those germs stick to your toothbrush. Those germs can also attach to other toothbrushes if you share a toothbrush holder!!

Humans have an average bite force of 200 pounds per square inch. The strong force of your teeth is one of the reasons why people feel like they can use their teeth as tools. However…..YOUR TEETH ARE NOT TOOLS‼️

Your teeth are not bottle openers, scissors, or nail clippers. They should not be used to open packages or chew on non edible items. Save yourself the trouble of an emergency dental visit due to a cracked and or fractured tooth. Only use your teeth for what they are meant for !

Happy Labor Day weekend!! 🇺🇸

REMINDER ➡️ it is you important to continue with your oral hygiene routine throughout the holiday weekend!

If you are have plans this weekend they probably are going to involve some type of barbecue and you can count on there being delicious food and drinks! As delicious as these foods are they can be very bad for your teeth. 🍔🍹

Barbecue sauces can stain your teeth and are full with sugar which can start to build up bacteria which lead to cavities. Sodas, pies, and cakes also are loaded with sugar. Corn on the cob can get stuck in between your teeth. Most of your favorites beverages are loaded with sugars and are acidic which can break down enamel.

Stick to your oral hygiene routine this weekend! Brush and floss 2x a day 🪥

Who doesn’t love the feeling of a brand new toothbrush! It will give you the most precise clean and it’s easy to do. Throw that old toothbrush away and break out a new one!!

3 months is the recommended amount of time in which you should replace your toothbrush however, we also recommend that you watch your bristles. Your bristles could start to gray before the 3 month mark and that is when you need to switch out for a new bush!

Why is it so important to change your toothbrush? It will help keep your oral hygiene successful! When the bristles become frayed the performance of the brush declines, they are even more prone to bacteria growth, and they can cause gum bleeding.

If you can’t remember the last time you changed your toothbrush you are probably over due! The time to change your toothbrush isn’t when you get a new one during your annual cleaning. Every 3 months can be marked down on your calendar so it’s easy to remember 📆 and will help keep your mouth happy and healthy!!

Helping your child develop a good oral hygiene routine will lead them on a path of a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Teaching children from a young age the importance of a dental routine will help them for years to come. This also includes forming a good relationship with the dentist and scheduling regular dental visits which should occur every 6 months.

Has your child established a relationship with the dentist? Have they had their first appointment yet? If not, give us a call to schedule their next dental appointment 🦷

Your toothbrush holder is the THIRD most germ filled place on your home 🦠🤯

Where you store your toothbrushes is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria!! This is why it is at the top of the list for germs located in your home and we recommend that you clean your holder weekly 🗓️

Rinsing your toothbrush at the end of your oral hygiene routine is necessary however, it is not enough to help keep your holder clean. There will always be run off that drips down to the bottom of your holder and this run off can include..
* toothpaste gunk
* saliva
* blood

That run off sits at the bottom of your toothbrush holder and because we recommend brushing your teeth 2x a day that means you will be touching those terms 2x a day when you grab your toothbrush.

Give your holder a good scrub once a week! Also, be sure to wash your hands after brushing your teeth 👍🏼 You do not want to transfer those germs on your toothbrush to the next thing you touch!
