❤️🤍💙 Honoring Our Veteran - William Hock ❤️🤍💙

We recently had the privilege of honoring Mr. William Hock and recognizing his dedicated service to our country.

Mr. Hock served in the Navy from 1960 to 1963, then continued in the Navy Reserves for four more years. Stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, he was part of the Deck Force, working in maintenance. His service took him around the world—from Korea to Hawaii to various ports across Japan. He fondly recalled the “Asuka,” which appears to reference the JS Asuka, an experimental ship once spotted at the Yokosuka Naval Base.

Mr. Hock shared entertaining stories about the time-honored naval traditions for sailors crossing the equator for the first time, providing some insight into the strong bonds and unique experiences of life at sea.

Adding a personal touch to the ceremony, Mr. Hock’s son and daughter honored him with words of love, pride, and gratitude, and afterward, treated him to lunch at a local eatery he’s grown to love.

Please join us in thanking Mr. Hock for his sacrifice and service to our country. 🇺🇸

💦 Making a Splash with a Wish for a Day 💦

Our Wish for a Day program gives our patients the chance to choose a meaningful experience that would bring them joy, and Rich’s wish was simple: an afternoon in the water! Thanks to Countryside YMCA, we made it happen!

Rich was joined by his hospice team, Betsy, Ryan, and Tracy along with friends and staff from Optimized Senior Living (Lebanon), for a relaxing afternoon enjoying the summer sun, cool water, and great company.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Countryside YMCA for their warm hospitality and support in making Rich's day extra special.

🌿Caregivers, take a breath.🌿
You show up with love, patience, and strength every single day, but you need to remember yourself, too.

Preventing caregiver burnout starts with small, intentional moments just for you.

Here’s your gentle reminder:
~ Step outside for five minutes of sunshine
~ Find a space to decompress and recharge
~ Drink water (yes, you too)
~ Take breaks (real ones)
~ ASK FOR HELP (it’s not weakness, it’s wisdom)
💜Remember: YOU deserve care, too. 💜

☀️Stay Safe in these Extreme Temps!☀️

With temperatures soaring, please remember to take care of yourself and others:

• Stay hydrated! Make sure you are drinking water often, even if you’re not thirsty.

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat. When working outdoors make sure you take frequent breaks and pace yourself.

• Check on elderly neighbors, pets, and those without air conditioning.

• Never leave kids or pets in cars—even for a minute!

• Head to cooling centers or public spaces if your home gets too hot. (Public libraries are designated cooling centers.)

• Be patient with one another. Remember we are all navigating our daily lives a bit hotter, sweatier, and maybe little moodier than usual. 😉 Let’s give each other some grace. 💜

Hope to see you tomorrow morning!
