Hands of Hope celebrated the 4th of July this week! We created fireworks masterpieces using broccoli, sharpened our brains while solving a “4th of July I Spy”, and played one of our favorite games: “Tunnel of Love!” Join us on Saturday August 23rd for our next session!

We had an awesome time at Hands of Hope this week! We were joined by our partners at Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore and the Alzheimer's Association, along with State Representative Kevin Hensley and Sen. Kyra Hoffner, and our UMC District Superintendent Tom Pasmore. Together, we reclaimed joy and discussed the resources, support and services that are currently available to caregivers, while acknowledging the areas where more support is needed. We appreciate the support of our partners as we work towards supporting and empowering healthy caregivers!

In the US, about 6.9 million people are navigating life with an Alzheimer's diagnosis- it is the 5th leading cause of death among older adults. By 2050, the number of people living with an Alzheimer's diagnosis is projected to double. The reality is that an Alzheimer's diagnosis affects many more people than what is statistically reported. Being a caregiver is lonely, scary & exhausting...but Hands of Hope Respite Care at Bethesda UMC is trying to make it less overwhelming. If you are a caregiver or you know a caregiver, we hope that you'll join us on Saturday, April 12th at our "Building Foundations of Caregiving" Workshop, presented with our partners at Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore and The Alzheimer's Association. Hands of Hope will be free of charge that morning for participants (pre-registration is required) who have a caregiver attending the workshop. In addition to our non-profit partners, we appreciate the support of our local elected officials Sen. Stephanie Hansen, Senator Sen. Kyra Hoffner and State Representative Kevin Hensley for their participation and support of Hands of Hope! We know that sharing is caring, so please help us share the details of the workshop to help us spread the word!

Hands of Hope went to the dogs this weekend, with a very fun visit from Paws for People! We also enjoyed painting our portraits, making some dog biscuits for our new best friends. and a fun game of hungry hungry hippos!

Join Hands of Hope and our partners at Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore and the Alzheimer's Association on Saturday, April 12th from 10-11 am for the "Building Foundations of Caregiving Workshop" at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Hands of Hope will offer free respite that morning while caregivers are attending the workshop (participants must be eligible for Hands of Hope, and registration is required).
